Also, Kerry, when asked about Sudan, stated he was going to increase the military by 2 divisions. Is he planning on doing that with a draft?
Like those issues haven't been around since the Nixon Administration? Can't put that on W. He's doing as good a job as anybody. How do you know the war on the real covert terrorists isn't going well? The war itself is covert. The Taliban is no more, al Qaeda is a shell of it's former self and bin laden is probably decomposed by now. Like your boy, Kerry, saying it don't make it so. And if repairing relations with our "allies" means groveling at the feet of France and Germany, I'll take the current state of affairs. And, f*** Canada while we're at it.
How many more years will the dems be beating this dead horse? ... everyone knows that social security will always be around in some form. Dems need to find another dead horse to beat...
Everyone knows? I beg to differ, very many people are concerned. This isn't just an issue for Democrats, its an issue for Republicans, too. Here is what the Bush Administration's expert says about it. Greenspan's Social Security Alarm "Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said Friday that the country will face "abrupt and painful" choices if Congress does not move quickly to trim the Social Security and Medicare benefits that have been promised to the baby boom generation. . . . Greenspan has repeatedly this year addressed the looming crisis in Social Security and Medicare, a development that the presidential candidates have chosen to virtually ignore given the painful choices that will likely be presented to the next president."
If you would Red, since you say this president has done nothing...please tell us how you see JK handling this. Be prepared to open you wallet b/c Uncle Sam is going to pickpocket everything you have if JK comes to power.
Red, I've been hearing people whine and cry doom about SS for as long as I can remember...and guess what? I'm still paying into the system. In fact, $148.80 this pay period, to be exact. SS isn't going anywhere.
I had the debate on in the background, was bored by the repitition of the same comments by both of them. Nobody said anything we hadn't really heard out of them and neither seemed to come across as a better debator (Kerry needs to learn to look at the camera and not at the moderator). I'll be much more interested in the vice presidential debate on Tuesday (I think its Tuesday?). The well spoken trial lawyer Edwards vs. our hot-headed vice prez Cheney. Should be interesting.
Big difference between being concerned versus using the SS issue to scare the elderly and the poor every 4 years during an election. SS is a government program that can never be taken back. It doesn't matter who occupies the White House, they will always figure out a way to fund this program. Barring the U.S. being taken over by another country, SS will always be here.
