So...Nick Saban wasn't "obligated" as you said he was? Your words were that he felt "obligated" to start a fifth year senior...

Not that "the intangibles" pointed to him starting an older player...

I'm glad Crawfish changed his name to The Voice Of Reason...You & John Kerry ought fit it pretty darn well...

    ;-)

I told you guys he'd waffle!

In all fairness, I picked our team to cover the spread ... barely.

Who knew the heavens would drop ... and make a 19 point spread a sure bet on opening day.

And what IS ... IS what Saban says IS ... and Saban said in so many words is ...

All this Russell worship is DOODLYSQUAT ... so keep posting your crap cuz you know more than LSU coaching and you say Randall can't throw a FB.

I get a kick outta reading your blood feud crap with TE ...

All in all ... I really love you guys ... and look forward to retiring in the next few years for good ... if I can keep my head on here in Saudi ... and spending my remainder of my days on this earth on the best FB forum with the best bunch of fans in America ... we may argue and fight ... but we all want the same thing ...

And that said ... if there's a program and a coach to do ... LSU and Saban can. I'm with Marine Tiger ... if this kid Russell EARNS the job ... let's be the first to do it ...

I SAY WE JUST WIN THE WHOLE MOTHER ****ING THING ... AND GO ALL THE WAY AGAIN :lsug:

WHAT WE NEED HERE IS A BRAIN TRANSPLANT ... FLYNN'S BRAIN INTO RUSSELL'S SKULL :hihi:

Don't be surprised to see Flynn come in and direct a couple of beautiful scoring drives this weekend ...

how'd that be for a QB controwwwwwwwwwverseeeeeeeeeee

Tiger Stadium holds over 92,000 people - when filled to capacity, there are only about 5 people in the stadium who are qualified to determine which players give this team the best opportunity to win by executing the game plan. Of those 5 individuals, only one pulls the trigger and he gets paid quite well to sweat the details of such a decision.

There is more to the story of these 2 kids than we will ever know. We don't see and hear all of the details from the stands and our living rooms the way Coach Saban and his staff do. For all we know, JR could have botched every play and had the talent to make something happen. For all we know JR can't go through his progressions. For all we know JR can't call plays or cadence correctly. There could be a million reasons that cause Coach Saban to make a decision, but I just don't see why he owes the fans anything beyond the assurance that he will play the player who will give the team the best chance to win.

Saban knows best, and if we decide that isn't the case, we'll eventually just piss him off beyond repair. Saban knows what the hell he's doing and it bothers me that he's climbing into bed right now and telling his wife about the idiots who ask him to break it down for them or question his judgment (however subtle they may be about it). For the first time in a generation, this program is on a winning track and it’s in the hands of pure genius. I wonder how long that will last.

As long as that crystal football sits on campus in Baton Rouge, it is my opinion that we give Coach Saban the keys to the car. No one wants this team to be successful more than Nick Saban and I truly believe that. We finally have a coach who knows more than we do about running a football program, maintaining excellence, developing and recruiting talent and winning football games – this man is not Jerry D. or Curley Hallman, and I pray to God above that we don’t start acting like he is…

Gene, Gene, he had a machine
ran real fast and ran real mean.
He tore 'em up around the track
And not once did Gene look back
until the day they crowned him king
And asked him how he built the thing
He looked them squarely in their eye
"Shut the **** up, let this mother fly"

well if you are taking it that seriously then maybe you should give the coach more credit since its obvious he plans ahead. CNS knows that when you have a passionate fanbase, maybe the best in the world...along comes with it the bad. He is quite aware of the second guessing that comes with the territory....he doesnt have to like it. Its like in every level of every major sports. He knew that long before he signed that 2.3 million annual contract.

If you really think people that actually make LSU football what it is, regardless how low their football acumen, is something that Saban wasn't prepared for, didn't expect or wished he could make disappear...then I think you need to relax.

There's not one stadium he could go where it wont be the same unless its the west coast or up north where he came where its all apathy. He didnt want that and he knew the passion was here.

On the contrary....he seems to love it here and realized theres more passion than he ever imagined. He loves the support of the fans and if people question him, he expects it since he knows they arent as smart as him in that aspect. Its only natural for people to ask why since they dont understand.

If you want to point a finger, then see exhibit A, I present to you, the media. Thats who really pisses the guy off, or crawfish. Take your pick. I tend to agree on both counts. Other than that, I dont think CNS is getting in bed worrying about fake H.W. from Pumpkin Center who yaps about putting MR at cornerback. just my opinion of course.

hey, don't act like my post was a glowing endorsement of Randall. But you certainly can't entirely blame the lack of running game on Randall. he's average at best, but what gets me is how people (mostly media) can't stop talking about how great Anderson was, but he was given more protection and MUCH better plays. he screwed up a lot. we just didnt make him pay for them. hell, if our defense and special teams play like last year, we win by 10-20.

OSU plays like that against everybody (I think 7th nationally last year against the run)---its not necessarily tailored to Randall.

Last thing, stop acting like Russell is the second coming of Favre. yes, he made the plays in crunch time (very important. and I think that means he can be great), but Bowe did just as much or more. AND, even more important, is that the beavers D was horrible!!! inexcusable!!! (reminded me of the Arkansas comeback against us 2 yrs ago.)

I wouldn't put a dollar on it, but I do think it's possible to go undefeated with Randall. More to the point, I think there's a better chance of it with him than with Russell. I guess I think that there is a better chance that Randall gets more confidence and gets on a roll, than Russell becomes a well-rounded qb. It takes too long to learn to read defenses and not focus on the primary receiver. Russell would have to be a remarkable football genius to not be completely abused by most SEC defenses. I think he would make more bad mistakes than Randall.

Plus, I think you're giving too much credit to Russell (see my previous post).

Teams and players (especially quarterbacks--especially Randall) can look like crap one week and great the next. Ohio St almost lost at home to a team not as good as Oregon State, but they still went undefeated. Our defense can win every game for us---especially, if we get some better play calling to give them some rest.

good post. that is very true in the world of sports... fans only remember the last week, similar to the media and the polls who the fans feed off of so its a vicious cycle. you cant read too much into one game--win or lose. See OU last year for that little example. See USC. See LSU.

Randall looked terrible but its very possible he cannot grip a wet football very well. Signs sure point to that given the AU game of past. JR and DA definitely could but these guys are much bigger.

IF JR isnt given the reigns completely as Chris Leak was last year...then MR will definitely be needed to survive our brutal schedule and dont be shocked if he lights it up at times. He's not near as bad as he showed or CNS would never have named him the starter. I still have faith in the guy. JR is our future so I can see a mix of both these guys the rest of the way. Hell, Nick said tonight hes going to try and get a few possessions for Matt Flynn this weekend.

sounds like we may even have a 3 headed monster before long.
