You sound like scrappy, but that's ok. Keep taking your cheapshots at LSU fans while we spend our money and actually attend LSU athletic events.
Neal actually requested a change from covering Auburn to cover LSU. But agree...not a Bama homer...maybe Ole Miss.
I am not questioning this, but are our only baseball facilities those outside of the Box? If so, that does not seem appealing to me. Though, they may still be better than most colleges. Not to be a personal attack, just wondering Bengal Buddy.
I seem to remember a LSU coach being awarded the National Coach of the Year Award. He had a down year the next year and was without a job the following year.:thumb:
How in the hell would you know? You don't even go to the games. All you know is what you read on message boards...and lord knows that is a far cry from the actual general feelings of the fans. Message boards are notorious for being breeding grounds for negativity. The fact you can agree with such a short-sighted statement knowing that we are the NATIONAL LEADER in attendance year-in and year-out is only a reflection of your hostility to all those on this board that were not satisfied with the direction the program was headed in under Smoke (turns out, we were right). If you had ever attended any of the baseball games, you would know full-well how supportive and classy the fans are. Sure, the attendance dwindled this year. But show me ONE program from any sport at any school that isn't as fickle. It's a fact of life, not a mark on LSU fans.
Our attendance was down 40% and we will still be in the top 25 in actual attendance and top 10 for paid attendance. Most colleges, even powerhouses like Florida State or GA Tech would kill for our down year attendance. I have attended collge baseball games all over the SEC and ACC. LSU has the most loyal fanbase I have encountered. I went to a GA Tech game where the actual attendance was 400. They were ranked #1 at the time. There were as many if not more LSU fans at the LSU/Auburn series this year, and that was coming off a pretty big slide. I went to the LSU Vandy series last year and LSU fans outnumbered Vandy fans 3-1. I don't want to hear anything about the loyalty of the LSU fanbase, especially from people who don't attend games.
Three comments: 1. Message boards are notoriously negative and fickle, CC and SabanFan are both correct. 2. LSU's ticket-buying fans are the primary baseball supporters Skip caters to--not internet geeks, not TV fans, not the LSU-oriented media. Paying for tickets and not showing up for the game is the indisputible way they show their displeasure to Skip. Yes, the ticket-holders are fickle, too, but it is a double-edged sword and those same people are the best fans in the game when the Tigers are playing well. The bitter comes with the sweet. CC is correct. 3. The truth does hurt. LSU baseball has a dose of the "unrealistic expectations" disease that Kentucky basketball and Bama football are famous for. But it's a winners disease and we could have far worse problems. Still, the truth hurts a bit, amigos . . . and SabanFan is correct.
