In a stud conference like the SEC--where previously #1 ranked Florida didn't even make the NCAAs--coaches need every edge they can get to be competitive every season. Why stay in a place like Oxford and shoot pop-guns when you can go to Baton Rouge and have freaking howitzers in your arsenal, capice?
At the present time, OM's baseball facilities "are" better than LSU's. I realize that LSU is going to build a beautiful new facility. OM has plans out already to even better what they already have in place.
MB is one of the highest paid coaches in the SEC already and plans are already in place to increase his pay and extend his contract. I don't believe money will be a deciding factor. Might be though.
At this time, LSU baseball talent is not up to par with the talent LSU normally has. I really don't see the popgun and howitzer comparison though. This year was supposed to be a rebuilding year at OM due to the loss of so much to the pros last year. With the success of this young team, and supposedly solid recruiting going on now, he may want to see how far he can go with what he has already worked so hard to put in place.
Yes. The job at LSU would be a great opportunity for some coach. But does MB want to come down there a start HIS program from scratch? Or does he want to continue on the upward trend he has going now? I have no idea. I wish a good young man the best in whatever decision he makes.
