Red we were #2 and ahead of Texas in the polls till our off week. Texas had a great game and jumped us in the polls it wasnt because we had several weeks of bad games.

It made it a lot easier with the 3 lackluster weeks.

I didn't say bad games, just games that Bama did not dominate like a top-2 team. Only two offensive touchdowns over the last three games raised a lot of eyebrows, amigo.

If Iowa finishes undefeated, they will have won road games at Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State. I think that's pretty impressive regardless of our general lack of respect for all things Big 10 related. A one loss LSU won't be ahead of an undefeated Iowa, specially since the computers like Iowa a lot.

Do you really think that's impressive?

That's pretty much like winning road games against Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, and South Carolina. Sure, it's good, but there is no elite team in there at all.

The difference is that those are the best teams they are going to play.

Regardless of what I think the computers like Iowa a lot and they have them as number 2. A win at OSU will solidify that position. PSU and OSU are better teams than those 4 SEC teams.

And yes, it is impressive if LSU wins against those 4 teams on the road.

With the current state of this team, I don't call that impressive, I call that expected.

i sure as hell don't think it's too impressive, but it is about as impressive as winning against a (slightly) down SEC. an undefeated big x team will play an undefeated texass. book it. now if iowa loses one (probable,) or if texas runs the table (not probable) that could change things.

if LSU ends up with one loss we may be at an advantage for having lost the game earlier in the season (not unlike 2003.) LSU would also have the benefit of beating bama and a re-match with florida.

if all of these teams end up with one loss, who goes? i think it is very much up-in-the-air at this point. too much ball left to be played.

texas is tough, i'm not sure i'd like to play them. maybe another loss won't be that bad. we'd still get a decent BCS bowl against a team like PSU, Iowa or maybe even (finally) USC. i want rose bowl. not a bad consolation.

    P&G_wheelz007 Football anyone?

Winning this game opens every door for us. We will likely jump to 5th in the polls and 5th or 6th in the computers and we'll have the inside track at the SECCG.

My opinion of this team hasn't changed since pre-season: We are very talented, fast and that we'd have a chance to win the SEC and potentially the BCS championship if we got hot.

Today, going into our 9th game, all of those opportunities are out there and I believe we've improved a lot since week 1.

If we lose to Bama Saturday, all of those doors close. At that point, I'll be hoping for a 10-win season.

So, to answer the original question, If LSU beats Bama Saturday we have a shot at the SEC title and this - :crystal::crystal::crystal:.

Nonsense, JayB. We'll destroy our bowl opponent. Bring on...anybody. Besides, outside of last week, Texas hasn't looked all that great.
