Thank you...I think. So what you're saying is this-Miles has the same winning percentage as Petey, should have 11 wins in 3 straight years, (every year he's been here), USC doesn't have to play a CCG, and is good even after losing huge contributers to the NFL...(like us this year). :hihi: By the way, was that title in his 3rd year the :crystal: , or the one LSU! actually won? :hihi:

(The rest of this isn't aimed at VBall:thumb: )

The thing I DON'T see is this. Pete's losses the past two seasons have been to unranked teams, while Miles has only ONE loss to an unranked team...which is 8-4 and headed to likely the Cotton Bowl. I see that...with ALL the talent at USC...only ONE :crystal: since Petey's arrival. I also don't see anyone calling for Pete's head when he loses to the likes of UTLA or Stanford.

You happy with 8-4 next season with all this talent, especially on offense? Good grief.

You people need to stop thinking small. You want LSU to be regarded as a perennial powerhouse, then act like it. None of this 9-3 or 8-4 bullshyt. That's for pussies. This team needs to win 10 years every year minimum, as long as keep recruiting like we are.

While this would be nice, it's just not realistic. There are some years where 8 or 9 wins is a great accomplishment, and some where you should be undefeated. This year and last year where our undefeated chances. We blew those. Next year will be tough.

We play all the tough ones on the road. We lose at least 7, and as many as 9 of our defensive starters. We lose 1, maybe 2 starting olinemen, Hester, Doucet, and Flynn.

Our most experienced QB, as talented as he may be, has some off the field issues. We will more than likely be learning a new defensive system, and playing for a new head coach.

The most experienced corner you have coming back got torched in his only significant playing time.

Could we win more than that? Sure. It will take a great coach. Cause a lot has to come together for it to happen.

Our offense will be better next year, assuming RP is still around. We will be more explosive at RB with Williams, Scott and Murphy. Losing Doucet hurts, but overall, the WRs will be a better group. The young guys will no longer be young and will know where to line up, hopefully. Barksdale and Jones will be an upgrade on the Oline.

The questions will be on defense, especially at CB. The Dline will be fine, but LB is a concern if Beckwith doesn't come back. We may have to play Pac 10 football and just outscore everyone.

10 wins, regardless of coach, is doable next year.

    Without quoting all the points/counterpoints...

uscvball...tanked meaning NC aspirations and getting dumped. Not the overall season.

Most of my talent points were hit...but I will say we will not be rebuilding next year. We just reloaded. I look for 2 losses (again) at most.

I still stand by my coach comparison...since Miles has had a better record than each of those I mentioned in his 3 years with Meuer backing into a sweet deal getting Ohio St at the last minute much like we did in '03...and still have an outside chance this season.

In that regard, I agree. Particularly since the two games that have been the most damaging in terms of the NC are ugla last year and the furd this year. Both losses squarely on PC's shoulders.

I don't think there's any season when you should be undefeated. There are years when you should challenge for the NC, but going undefeated in the SEC is a very, very tall order & should never be expected.

I do agree that expectations change with the circumstances of what players you lose/have coming back & what the schedule is like though.

The expectation for last year was 10-2 considering our road schedule. We accomplished that. This year's expectation was 11-1, we've fallen short by 1 point total (1 point in regulation in either game).

    Agreed.

LSU next year will be Florida this year. We'll destroy weak teams, but come just short in tough contests due to a lack of experience & weak defense.

Florida losing 3 games hasn't hurt their perennial powerhouse reputation. They'll be ranked either #1 or 2 in the country next year.
