Would you not consider last year a tank job? Really, all you had to do was beat a bad UCLA team, and you're National Champs (probably beat them just as bad as y'all did Michigan). Kinda like us tanking this year. All we gotta do is beat unranked Arky AT HOME! I mean jeez if you had told me we would have them 4th and 10 in OT with Dick scrambling outta the pocket to make a play, I would have bet my House that we win that game. Good thing I didn't make that bet.
If we get by with losing only three games next year, I will be very pleased. Next year will be a major rebuilding year. And stop with the "Saban recruits" stuff. Miles has proven himself to be a top recruiter.
i want to know who determined that we are/were the "most talented team in America"? all i hear is how our "talent" was wasted. wtf???? 3,4,5 stars look ok on a 17 y/o playing against other 17 y/o players but that doesn't translate into success. EVERY TEAM IN THE SEC HAS TALENT. this edition of the LSU IS talented but i hesitate to buy into the notion that we are far and away the most talented team in the world.
90% of it is based on how many guys on your team project to the next level. The rest is how good your support players are. These are the guys who probably have no chance to make the NFL, but contribute valuable gameplay for your team. The bulk of CFB is made up of those types of players, and most teams are blessed with one or two next level guys. Our team is considered the "most talented team in America" because the bulk of it projects to the NFL and we have less support players than next level guys. In the end none of it matters without putting it all together. That is the coaches job.
With Miles as head coach, I am sure he will hire a competent DC if Bo leaves. I think next year LSU will win 8-10 games. Probably 9-4. I will be very happy with results that because we lose a lot of talented seniors. If Miles wins 10 games, I will gave him A+. Now, I think the biggest test for CLM is next week SEC conference game. If CLM can get the team back into focus on the game, and win SEC champions, I think he definitely proves to many fans that he is a great coach.
Not anymore... he went 6-6 this year with a team that went 6-7 (with a bowl loss)... he did better at LSU coming into a program that had to learn to win again (3-8 the year before he arrived).
We play AT: Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, and South Carolina next year. Plus home games against Mississippi St, UGA, and Alabama There will be no shame in losing 3-4 games next year. No matter how talented the team or great the coach, no team survives that schedule unscathed or even with 1 loss.
IF... and I mean a big IF there is any complaints about CLM's coaching, it's the fact that he believes in full contact practices ALL season long.... I believe that has contributed to some of the nagging injuries we have and thus has prevented our best 11 guys being on the field when we need them the most.
Les is a good quality coach, you guys talk like he sucks. He may not even want to stay here, who do we get after he's gone. If he leaves? WVU coach, Kansas? No matter what next year will be a rebuilding year talent wise, I'd hate to have to do it with an entire coaching change. (Except Pellini he can leave any day now, our defense plays weak. Has he ever heard of the concept of pressuring a young QB)
