See, I think this is common misinformation. We have a head coach who played and coached offensive line. Offensive lineman love to run the football. This is why on 3rd and 4 we hand off to JV up the middle.

Offensive minded coaches are typically former quarterbacks or receivers. Guys who's first love to to go downfield.

To recap: MIles played offense, just not at a position that would make him to be considered an offensive minded coach.

Damn I put four quotation marks around it. Let me try again.

We have an """"""""""offensive minded coach"""""""""". :hihi:

I disagree. A coach who is offensive or defensive minded means they understand one side of the ball better than the other. Miles is an offensive minded coach because that's what he knows best.

What you speak of is offensive philosophy. I agree that the offensive lineman in him makes him want to run the ball and control the line versus being a pass happy offense.

An offensive minded coach doesn't think about going down field first. I believe most offensive minded coaches think run first. Even The old ball coach new he had to run the ball, not necessarily on 3rd and 4. There are times to stretch the defense. I believe we go down field as much are more than most teams.

Just because you don't like the supposed offense doesn't mean he isn't an offensive minded coach.

But I disagree about your assesment of our offense anyway. Miles' offenses were more potent at Oklahoma St than Jimbo's were here - and that includes the high scoring Rohan years.

Look at who Miles is recruiting this year, several of the top WRs in the nation plus one of the top QBs in the country and one RB - who isn't even a power runner. Now what kind of offense does it look like he's building?

A good offensive minded coach, like Spurrier, understands you must have balance. But that balance is unpredictable.

Predictable playcalling, whether it's run or pass (Hal Mumme), won't be nearly as successful. That's the problem I have with our offense right now.

ok maybe as fans we think the LSU OC job is bigger than we think.
but i don't think we're gonna get someone like chow. or anyone else you'd heard of.
the last thing miles wants is someone who disagrees with him philisophically (sp?) like jimbo. look for him to promote monken and get ready for the I formation dual TE stack offense. 1 yard and a cloud of dust.
