I sincerely hope that both Alabama and Miami will not be able to hire anyone.

At least anyone worth a crap not desperate for a job.

We should be looking at those coaches who we stand a reasonable chance of attracting. Here are some possibilities:

    Greg Nord
Asst head coach at Louisville. 11 years at Louisville.
Helped create the Cardinal's rushing game which has broken
school records in rushing yards (+3000) and rushing TDs (20).
Mentored USA Conf top tight ends in 5 of last 6 seasons.
Prior coaching assignments include Georgia Tech (tight ends).
Question: Would he leave Louisville where he is next in line to become
head coach to take OC at LSU?

Paul Petrino - OC/WR coach at Louisville. 18 years coaching experience.
Masterminded the success of Louisville's offense considered one of the
    best in the country.
Question: Would he leave his big brother at Louisville to take a similar
    position at LSU.

Robert Anae - OC at Brigham Young. 13 years coaching experience
Coached BYU to #4 offense in the nation (33 points per game average)
and is #4 in passing game.
Coached OL at Texas Tech, UNLV and Boise St.

Sonny Dykes - Co-Offensive Coordinator at Texas Tech. Soxth season as
    Texas Tech's OC.
Texas Tech has set over 20 receiving records since his arrival. Been
instrumental in Tech's record-setting and conference receiving records.
Coached tight ends and special teams at Kentucky. Coached receivers
    at NE Louisiana University.

Personally, Im not the biggest fan of Jimbo. Its true everyone makes boneheaded calls, but at times it baffles me as to his thinking? Take the final drive against Arkansas. They knew we were gonna run the ball up the middle. What does he do, run up the middle. LSU was passing consistently on Ark, yet he stuck with the run. Then on third down calls a VERY conservative QB draw. At times he makes some great calls, I just find at times, mainly against the better teams he is too conservative with his calling. LSU has a ton of fire power, let it go sometimes.

Isnt Chow a major candidate to go to Arizona St? If Fisher were to leave and we get him that would be awesome! LSU would be even more explosive!

Excellent post. You are right on about that last drive. And what does it say about the confidence in your QB? Says a lot, actually. When you play not to lose, you usually lose. Luckily Houston Nutt went braindead on that last drive.

I would like to get someone new in here. But it has to be the right guy. Another Sean Payton, basically. Go back and watch that 4th quarter of the Saints/Falcons game and see how it's really done. The right way.

And don't tell me we don't have the personnel to do that. Our strength is our passing game. Use it.

Amen! I agree totally about the pass being our strength. We have damn good WRs. Our OL is also better suited to pass blocking than run blocking. Granted they are getting much better recently with their run blocking. Still in all, LSU is much better when they pass first. THEN establish the run. Not run first and then pass. LSU has the WRs to really spread the field and pass more.

I hate conservative play calling at the end of a game. I always cheer against whoever plays that way. Except LSU of course, always cheer for them no matter what. Too often it bites you when you play not to lose. LSU could have scored on that final drive and really stuck a dagger in Arkansas had Jimbo not been so conservative. Miles does take some blame though because he should have stepped in.

Who are you? My identical twin? :hihi: :hihi:

Just like yesterday....I was so very happy to see Coughlin lose that game yesterday. He is a loser. He should be fired. Giants are hopeless with him at the helm.

Dang, Lubbock, the cradle of coaches. I would take Dykes over Anae, but Sonny is in some big time investments here in Lubbock (Car Dealership, Minor League Baseball Complex). Seems like he is making a bed in case Leach leaves.

Is Jimbo still in the running for UAB?
