Of course another name to watch is Charlie Strong...outstanding defensive coordinator for Florida and now has Louisville undefeated and ranked #14

At this point in his long career, why would Chavis leave a good thing? He's getting 7-figure head coach pay without any of the head coach pressure. Returning to the old alma mater is nice, but its a coaches graveyard and the pressure is off the scale.

Might as well brace for losing Wilson. Somebody soon will make him an offer he can't refuse.

If Chavis really wanted the HC gig at Tennessee, seems like they would have offered it to him on a silver platter when Fulmer quit.

For the life of me I will never understand Gruden-mania. The guy hasn't coached at the college level since I was in elementary school and Tampa promptly went to hell after he kept Dungy's seat warm during his SB season.

I'm not sure I understand all this Gruden hype. Yeah, he won a Super Bowl with a veteran team but really seemed to struggle developing young players. How good would he even be with college kids?

Of the names mentioned, I think Charlie Strong should be the choice. He is a proven commodity with head coaching experience. You have no idea what you get with Kirby Smart... I don't care what anybody says, Saban is the defensive coordinator at Alabama.

So Red, do you think another team would offer Wilson a head coaching position or a coordinator position first? Makes me wonder if the offense is still real shaky going forward and a change is to be made, if Les really controls the offense, why not promote Wilson to OC just to keep him. Who knows maybe the dude can call plays too and we just don't know it.

No way they (or any big time FBS school) offers him a HC job. And IMO, I don't think he would be anyone's first choice for a coordinator's position. But as mentioned, that's just my humble opinion.

Aren't the Hog fans under the same Gruden delusion?

I am normally not a fan of NFL guys coaching in college and vice versa but Gruden is one of the FEW NFL coaches out there that has the personality to deal with HS recruits. He speaks their "lingo" vs a guy like Mike Sherman at A&M who didn't even know there was a "lingo'. That being said, not sure how he would do with all the other issues in college football that are the least favorite things for a coach to do. He would generate some interest on name alone. Still can't believe Cordarellleee whatever his name is went there over LSU.
