I never realized we had so much turmoil here. Did notice an excessive # of threads being moved though, many of which were clearly LSU-relevant in my opinion.

First of all, I dont mind paying to keep the site up. If nothing changes Im not going anywhere. I like the site WAY more than other LSU sites and its why I have been here 5 years. If we need money to pay for servers and bandwidth then we need to charge for special privileges.

Open the whole site up to any registered user. No more contrib only forums except maybe a suggestion forum as Grad proposed. Give em the ads which may encourage them to join. Maybe even scale contributor status. 10 bucks gets rid of the ads, 25 bucks gets you full rights with sig, av's, increased PM box size, etc. All the other suggestions are great. I would also suggest we re-align and re-name the forum categories as follows:

    Sports:

    - The Tigers Den: LSU topics ONLY! If its not directly about LSU, it dont go here.

    - The College Den: All college sports talk

    - The Pro Den: All pro sport talk

    - The Tiger Recruiting Den: LSU recruiting topics

    Lagniappe:

    - The Roundtable: Everything not related to Sports

    - Good Eats: Yummy!

    - Free Speach Alley: Politcal Arguments

    - Fantasy Sports: For the playas

    - Video Games:

    Classified:

    - Buy-Sell-Trade

    - Ticket Office

    Archive:

    - Best of

because its is a nice thing to do for the people that contribute money to that site. I like this aspect of it. It is also nice to know there is a spot that does not require much spammer or idiot (i am not calling anyone an idiot) moderation. The "private" section does not directly relate to LSU sports, so if you don't want to contribute or you just want to talk LSU sports you are able to do so.

not much turmoil. just trying to add some improvements.

I do agree that Contributors should be given some "perks" for their money, but like I said, I know the costs of opening/ maintaining a VB forum and it's pennies in the grand scheme of things. I make little money at this point in time due to a lay off but I am still able to keep up and maintain 2 VB forums right now. So their not expensive, I just find it insulting to some degree to restrcit discussions or abilities based on my giving or not, but I still log in so I can discuss some LSU football.

I'm not going to get into a big debate over your points but I'll just note for the record.
No one is forced to do anything. This is an LSU forum and the LSU related sections have always been and currently are completely free to read and participate in.

A forum of this size costs money to operate and maintain. I can assure you it's not $30. There have been many LSU fan forums that have come and gone in the 8-9 years we've been here. We've been a reliable and trusted place for LSU fans to gather and talk about all things LSU and more. This has all been possible through my time and money, voluntary donations from our Contributors that make it possible for everyone to post for free and the hard work or our moderators that volunteer their time (which isn't free either) to keep the forum up and running smooth.

All in all your post is ignorant and insulting. I've spent more of my own time and money providing this forum for years that you can possibly imagine. Time and money that could have been spent on my wife and children.

We are going to move forward with some changes that will hopefully make TigerForums.com even better. Feel free to ad more ideas but save the insults.

Was never trying to insult you or anyone on your staff, if that's how you feel than i am truely sorry... if I thought TF was a bad place over all I wouldn't keep logging in to particpate in LSU discussions.
But the fact of the matter is, I too have and do own VB forums. Have been since 2000/2001. I do know the costs of running these forums and all expenses that goes into it, and have always done so with very little to no help from outside sources. But those costs are the evils of owning a forum. All I was saying was restricting members accesses or abilities based on "donations" isn't my cup of tea, if it's yours then fine. We just have two different styles of running forums. I'll shut up from here on out and won;t put my opinions in where their not needed.

If you allow everyone full posting access whether or not they contribute, revenue will take a nose dive.
