I'd just call that prudence on your part. You'd have gotten your remarks back in spades.

And the hate is equal on the Auburn boards where any fan or coach from Georgia, Bama, or LSU i s blasted regularly. What's your point? What does this diatribe have to do with this thread anyway?

Some of you folks are out of touch with reality. "9-wins a season or you're fired". What planet do you live on? Nick was the best coach in LSU history and he barely averaged 9 wins over five years. He had a couple of 8-win seasons--you would have fired him, I guess. The SEC is a tough league and every other year we have to play Auburn, Florida and anothr SEC opponent on the road. We are going to have some 8-4 seasons fairly often and an occasional 7-5.

Nobody including Bama, Florida, and LSU get to the top and stays there forever. There are going to be highs and lows. There are going to be lean recruiting years (this year will be one). All I want out of a coach is to be like Charlie Mac and Nick Saban and make LSU a perennial top-10 team and an SEC contender with an occasional shot at a National title.

That's just Proud Tiger being unable to resist showing his true colors...taking a free jab when he thinks we're down.

I welcome Coach Miles to LSU, and hope he has a long and successful stay here. He inherits an excellent, but not dominating program, from Nick Saban.
We had a dream run last year, but in spite of this, if we are honest with our selves, we know that we are still not mentioned in the same breath as OU, USC, Texas, Mich Miami, etc. With all of the top recruiting, we still struggled this year and many times last year. With this in mind, I don't think Saban (and staff )was the God that all on this board seem to think he was. At LSU, Miles will have all the tools to build the program into an even better one than it is now.
I would expect Coach Miles aims to do nothing less.
Let us all hope he does well!

Yeah. 7 wins a season. At a school that isn't the #1 program in their own state, and does not have the fascilities in place to ledgitimately put up a huge fight vs OU and Texas.

Not to knock, OSU, but we have more depth and over-all, our players are more talented. Miles won 7-games a season at OSU. Just think what he can accomplish here!

With potentially 18 starters back from a 9-3 season, I don't understand how you can't think national championship no matter who the coach is. That is the way I am looking at it.

Hypothetically look at it like this. Ok Oklahoma State is a top 60 program. They get 4 wins from OOC opponents. and then they only get 3 more wins. He is getting those wins from crappy schools. Baylor, Kansas, etc. So 7 wins is nothing.

I'll give it to him that he beat Oklahoma twice but everyone gets the upset once in a while. It is OK. State's rival anything can happen.

If he was winning 9 games a year then that would be something to talk about. His avg. of 7 wins a season means nothing. Except that you can beat the teams ranked 80+.
