Careful with your terminology... MORE MONEY should be used not MORE PEOPLE. Example: LAST NIGHT'S GAME between TCU vs AIRFORCE. MAJORITY OF THE PUBLIC WAS ON TCU, BUT MORE MONEY WAS ON AIRFORCE. This cause the line to drop. This MONEY is ALSO refered to as SHARP MONEY. - 10 bets at $10 ($100) on TCU vs 1 bet on AIRFORCE at $300
Agreed. I don't know about at will, but I'd say 150 yards on the ground sounds about right. With your passing game struggling, will that be enough? How good was Vanderbilts secondary? Even though many expected Bama to be able to pass the ball this year, they haven't shown it. I think they'll get some yardage there, but like I said, I expect Arkansas' defense to be just good enough. I say Arkansas gets at least 250 on you on the ground. Arkansas typically has a strong OLine, and DLine was a supposed weakness of this year's Alabama team. Is Arkansas' WR Monk still injured?
JPW hasn't been playing like he did last year. From what I can tell it has to do with his footwork and taking strides that look a lot shorter than last year, along with a stance that isn't as wide. That leads QB's to float the ball, normally over the WR's head. That's something that can be corrected, and they've been working on it this week. That's been the biggest problems. The passing game will come, especially when you have the corners playing press coverage which Arkansas tends to do. There secondary really wasn't tested last Saturday. We were having a lot of success running the ball, and attempted fewer passes than most expected. The thing about their defense (secondary), along with what I mentioned earlier, is they'll have to drop into a nickel package to be able to cover the routes I expect to see Saturday. When they do that, the running game is good enough to take advantage. There is the important point, and where we see differently. Last year, with a young group, we held them to around 170. They return their C and RG, which is the reason I mentioned earlier about the need for our NG/DT's to be able to take up a few bodies. Their tackles are new starters, which, given the experience and the talent at our ends, gives us a great opportunity to win that battle. Nutt said last week that he was uncertain about Monk. Most don't expect him to contribute much, but knowing the trickery Nutt likes to pull, I expect to see him get some game action. He's a great receiver, but going up against one of the best CB's in the SEC. A lot expected Bennett to have a huge game last week and Castille did a good job containing him. Vandy picked on Kareem Jackson, new to the secondary a lot last week, but Jackson did very well himself. One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is the two kick return games. That is going to be very interesting to watch.
was mcfadden completely healthy? i know he was out most of the first game of the season and you played them early, right?
From watching him, he didn't have any visible problems cutting. It sure seems his toe was healthy. That was one of the things that first crossed my mind after the Vandy game last Saturday so I pulled out the DVD of last years game just to see. What I don't remember is if Nutt had said "McFadden is uncertain" last year like he's said Monk is this year. Never-the-less, we've been practicing as if Monk is going to play.
Terry my memory might be a bit foggy but I think last year McFadden was coming off some kind of minor injury before the Bama game and hadn't practiced much.
He broke his toe kicking the ground outside of some bar, remember. True, he hadn't practiced much missing most of the fall camp and the first game. But, if I recall correctly he was practicing with the team immediately following that game. If you have the recording of the game last year (I know, I was tempted to throw it away like you may have done) he certainly looks to be full speed and had his lateral motion/cutting ability. Like us this year, they were returning their entire starting OL as well. On the other hand, we had lost what, 9 on defense?
Yea, the ground - on its way to some guys rib cage. I'm pretty sure he played some the first game versus USC, and that he was still not doing everything at practice the following week.
