If you can’t see that the offense is better overall, then you aren’t looking. At least we have a rushing attack this year when we didn’t have any last year, and that’s because the offensive line is better, and in the NC game and MSU games JJ’s passing ability was much improved over last season. The main problem holding this offense back at this point has been the ultra conservative play calling on Crowton’s part, probably due to the piss poor game JJ had against Vanderbilt, sort of like he is overly cautious or otherwise deliberately playing not to lose. Whatever the case may be, I don’t know, it’s clear they need to open up the passing game more and let JJ gain more confidence. It will also open up the running game more as well. Hence, if Crowton becomes more aggressive and creative in his play calling the offense will significantly improved.
I believe the ultra conservative play calling is simply due to the "want" to run the ball. I really think it's that simple. I said in another thread, you can tell by the recruiting tendancies lately that is the direction LSU is headed. And I'm OK with that. I don't disagree with those who say you can't win the SEC if you CAN'T pass...but you CAN win in the SEC if you CAN pass...but just don't do it much. LSU CAN pass.
I HAVE BEEN WATCHING LSU FOOTBALL A LONG TIME . THIS IS THE LEAST PRODUCTIVE OFFENSE I CAN REMEMBER . JJ SHOULD BE IN THE BACKFIELD , WITH THE OPTION TO RUN OR THROW EACH TIME HE GETS THE BALL. NOT AS QB. YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO RIDE A HOSS THAT CAN'T BE RODE [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLB15kBvn_c"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLB15kBvn_c[/ame]
Well, injecting more balance into the offense by passing the ball to our 5 star WRs plus Peterson will only open up the running game even further. Hence, it would be ludicrous not to utilize our talented receiving corp properly. Anyway, Miles is promising to get the passing game going this week, let’s see if he does. I mean it’s easy, quit being ultra conservative and call more passing plays.
Uhm…who hasn’t? Not the least productive, but one of the most conservative ever. Last year’s offense was the least productive offense we’ve probably ever saw. Nonsense, JJ completed 71.4 percent of his passes against NC and 62.5 percent with several drop balls and another batted down at the line of scrimmage that would have been a touchdown against MSU. Hence, there wasn’t any reason not to call more pass plays in those games since he was hitting his passes and not throwing interceptions or pick sixes like his predecessor. So for, albeit with the exception of the Vandy game, JJ has played really well. Hence, there is no reason not to open up the offense at this point.
I here ya', and I ain't saying I wouldn't like to see it. But I will believe it when I see it. And furthermore, I don't really care how many 5* receivers LSU has. You see what's happening right now in the Bama/Arky game? 5 star receivers, and they keep trying to pass pass pass. Guess what? They're almost to the point they're gonna HAVE to pass. They should've run the ball down Arky's throats. You do what you do best...and then you do it some more...until it isn't working.
Bama should have established the run early to establish the pass, but for some reason they got away from it and now they are struggling, plus Julio missed a nice pass he should have caught for a touchdown, but got a pass interference call as a consolation. Not to mention that Bama’s defense hasn’t put pressure on Mallet all game and their inexperienced defensive backfield has had a lot of breakdowns as Mallet has picked them a part. Okay…Bama just scored, now the game gets a lot more interesting. Let’s see if Bama can dial up the pressure on Mallet now.
