Just look at Isaiah's career thus far. Compare and contrast those two personalities. :dis:

Nope I didnt make your point, I defeated your point, come up with some statistics that the majority of black people in America are their own worst doings. Some of them yes, no doubt about it. But for most black people they are working American citizens, just like their other ethnic counter parts. Comparing blacks to other ethnicities, such as white and spanish. Yes, blacks and spanish statistically get incarcerated at a higher rate than their white counterparts. But your generalizations speak of a majority of black people and thats just not true and downright ignorant. Thats my point and its the truth.

Another response right out of the left-winger's playbook.

Don't address the issue. Label those that disagree with you as "racist" or a "hater". Shout them down.

I've said nothing hateful. I've pointed out something you don't like and instead of addressing it you just attempt to smear.

I didnt label you anything, what I said was true. I never said you were racist or a hater(that speaks volumes right there). The hate part is your disdain and hate for liberals. Which I never pronounced to be, so another one of your stereotypes.

Do you blame all of your problems on liberals, are you a victim of liberalism. Seems to me that you are and thats all you have to complain about.
Let me know when your temper tantrem is over.

I think Andouille's point is not to say that racism has been eliminated; that would be foolish. The point is that racism is not an obstacle that can not be overcome with perseverance and self-determination, and Barack Obama's election is the final, end-all, be-all proof of that. You make the point yourself with your example of four influential people in your life who "never complained", but put their heads down and made successes of themselves, despite the obstacles. I assume you have done the same with your own life, minus the "never complained" part, based on what I've seen of your posts here in FSA.

OK, that last line was a cheap shot; should be beneath me. My apologies.

Only thing I have complained about is ignorance. Other than that, its your opinion. Also, you must be a Razerback fan, from your fondness of slopping in mud and shyt.

Now that was a cheap shot.:D

I can see both your points but there are plenty of statistics to show that blacks don't take the same advantage of this country's opportunities as other ethnic groups. Just prison statistics alone show a disparity.

Poverty, racism certainly plays a heavy hand in this but other minorities overcome the same poverty and racism. Would you suggest that Hispanics, Asians, Middle Easterners don't share some of the same obstacles, including a lack of citizenship? Just looking at your family arc shows that opportunities have grown and success has happened in spite of walls. Your family took advantage of it, but many don't, including many white people. This doesn't prove the country is no longer racist, but it certainly proves that the majority is not. Things have improved massively over the last 100 years, and I expect them to improve in the next 100.

But ultimately, it is for every man/woman to seize it, regardless of race.

well...not that i personally know because i am not black...i did, however, hear a series of interviews with several mixed race individuals awhile back (maybe on NPR or perhaps it was a podcast - don't really remember). The persons they interviewed said that their persona of "black" or "white" was a combination of where they lived, the people they hang out with (and relate best to), and the environment they grew up in. some of them identified as caucasian and some identified as black. in essence, they said that whether you call them black or white was determined by the lifestyle they live and the persona they present.

only one of the 5 or so interviewed said that she felt like she related equally to both cultures, and even then, she felt that was because she had lived in both predominantly black neighborhoods early in life and in mostly middle class white neighborhoods during her teenage years. so again, even the person who identified with both, did so because of environment.

so perhaps they call obama "black" because that is how he identifies himself. (just speculating - don't personally know the man to know for sure).
