You might have to be Special Forces qualified to do the HALO thing. The SF qualification course is, to say the least, extremely challenging.

I was going to ask you, but you already answered it: after you exited the aircraft and checked your canopy, you discovered that your risers were twisted around and you had to kick your feet back and forth to un-twist the risers. Sometimes this causes oscillation. If you were oscillating, you might have hit the ground on a down-swing, and that makes the landing harder.

It sure sounds like bad dumb luck, and not a failure to keep your feet and knees together. The instructors have a pat answer for everybody who gets hurt at jump school: "You didn't keep your feet and knees together." That's not the reason for every injury. The high windspeed is probably the reason. The reason why you had to sit looking at the red light waiting to jump for half an hour was because the windspeed was high. I didn't expect that they would tell you how fast it was. Maybe they didn't check. If you have 20 guys with injuries from one jump, I'd say it's pretty clear that the windspeed was dangerously high.

Take care of yourself. It really saddens me to hear your story. I hurt the ball joint of my foot on my second jump at jump school, but I was able to limp through without the injury being noticed by the instructors. If they see that you are hurt, they recycle you to repeat some training or complete training at a later time. I didn't want to be recycled, so I limped through. I could have landed on a rock and gotten hurt as badly as you did. It could happen to anybody. Maybe you'll get lucky somewhere else, since you had bad luck on your first jump!

Come on Tigers!! Win the SEC for our guy Crip!! If he can pack his parachute into the bag and walk off the drop zone with a badly broken leg, then surely, the Tiger football team can get the win for this young man!!

Thanks Jean like I said everything happens for a reason and as much as I would love to be going to the Big Sandbox and fighting with my new brothers. If this is suppose to mean I am suppose to be here to witness LSU win the crown then so be it.

A broken leg is just a small price to pay to be able to watch OUR Tigers in all their glory bring one back home!
