1. My question was if 4-4 or even 5-3 in the SEC next season is a reason to look for a new coach. Let's not worry about who the QB is for next year and just look at expected results. Would you expect CLM to remain if he goes 4-4 or 5-3 in the SEC?

Don't answer a question with a question. Man up, and state whether you think CLM should remain if he goes 4-4 or 5-3 in the SEC. If you think so, then that is your opinion and I respect it. I personally do not think CLM should be retained next year if we have that type of record in the SEC.
  2. Did you notice the size of the rkansas lines? Did you notice how our offense couldn't score a point? You can go ahead and put that game next year as a loss as they're only going to get better, same as Bama and Auburn again. I think we beat MooU and Ole Piss, but A&M is a toss up game. So there you have a 2-3 with 1 toss up game, so possibly 3-3 or 2-4 in the West. Unless of course we somehow discover a QB and an offense.
  3. I agree that 3-3 in the West is possible next year, and we play Florida and South Carolina from the East so 4-4 or 5-3 overall in the SEC is not far fetched, given our performance this year on offense. With that type of SEC record, do you think CLM should be retained?
  4. Auburn - Jason Campbell, Cam Newton
    Alabama - McCarron
    Arkansas - Mallett
    Ole Miss - Eli
    MSST - no one
    LSU - Mett and Flynn
Texas A&M - Tannehill and Manziel

    Georgia - Murray and Stafford
    Tennessee - Peyton
    Florida - no one
    Vanderbilt - Cutler
Kentucky - not sure if Woodson is somewhere as a 3rd stringer or not
    Missouri - Chase Daniel
    South Carolina - Connor Shaw

This is all off the top of my head and that's just people who are currently on rosters. Not encompassing all the qb's drafted.

I think we are missing the point here though. We don't need a NFL qb to win. In fact it's rare that a qb wins national championships and goes on to be a great NFL quarterback. We just need someone who can run the offense and move the chains, and not turn the ball over.

  5. It's not WE, it's just one person that can't seem to comprehend. Like I posted earlier, who cares who has put more in the pro's, that has no impact on college win loss records.

  6. You're absolutely correct. Hell you can pull up a list of national championship winning qb's and I would venture to say most of them if they did make the NFL, didn't have really good careers.
  7. I'd argue, NFL capable kids playing for your school does in-fact = college wins.

Take away Landry and OBJ/Hill, and Mett; how many games does LSU win in 2013?

To claim that NFL skilled players doesn't matter is bullshit.

Why the metric is used is because it tells us a few things:
    Development
    and talent utilized

Both very important in looking at the current coaching staff/direction of the program.
  8. We are talking about the quarterback position.
  9. Still holds true.

Chances of winning with NFL talent are still better.
  10. How many NFL quarterbacks have won national championships.

The best qb's in the NFL never even sniffed one. In fact the only one who won one in the playoffs is Cam Newton and I wouldn't even say he is a good NFL qb.
