When I have been on the north if somebody asked stupid questions I would make up stories about having to watch out for alligators on the way to school and how some of my classmates got eaten by gators. Nobody ever called bullshit[/QUOTE] Ha! I've done the same thing, played it up like I was straight out of the atchafalaya basin, taking a pirogue to school, etc.
Not sure if this is the best thread to post this, as the anti-Miles venom is being spewed across multiple threads... I wanted to point out clock management issues late in the OSU/Bama game. OSU had a chance to put the game away WITHOUT giving the ball back to Bama for one final drive. You've got to admit, some putred playcalling there as OSU only took what, :30 seconds or so off the clock (yes, I know Bama called timeouts, but still...). Then Bama does the get ball back, and look at their clock management. Perhaps Sims could have pulled off a miracle with that hail mary to the endzone, but it didn't have to come to that. Point is, so many folks are quick to pull the trigger on Miles and LSU for poor clock management. Guess what, people -- every freaking college football team, elite or not, experiences this! I think we tend to magnify these issues since LSU is our team, we watch the games closely, and debate these issues ad nauseam. Most of us simply do not watch enough of other teams to see how frequently this occurs.
Ole Myth, State, and Arkansas had good years in 2013 but usually THEY SUCK. Alabama had a 5-7 year under Saban. Auburn has had two 8-5 season in the last 11 years plus a 5-7 and 3-9. All have had rebuilding years and all have had ineffective quarterbacks. What the hell are you talking about? This is the first year we have been young since 2008, another 8-5 year. Who is bringing in those recruits? We are 8-4 versus Arkansas since 2003. We call that "twice as good". Says who? There are a half-dozen other damn fine teams in this conference and their spoiled fanbases imagine the same thing. There is not a team in America who doesn't have off seasons. Most have a lot fewer very good seasons than us to balance them with. You ain't talking football, Cochise. You are just bitching out of frustration.
Replacing a 2-year starter at QB with a neophyte, and the loss of 3 instant NFL stars at the skill positions. I'm not making excuses for the development of Jennings, just saying the issue isn't with the playbook itself.
How come a whole butt load of other teams replace qb's with ease, and barely skip a beat but LSU can't?
Put whatever spin you like on it.....2 years ago, people were questioning our QB coaching and development when Mettenberger took over and failed to immediately look like a superstar. Then Cam came in, Mett blossomed and everyone shut up. Now Jennings tanks and all of a sudden the coaching is in question again. Maybe he's just not a good QB. And no, I don't know why they stuck with him.
