1. Reverse psychology does actually work often times.
  2. Looks like the only play Mett has down is the bubble screen.
  3. I like the comment from Miles indicating Lee will play the entire game against Miss St. However, if we're down 10-14 pts at the half with Lee struggling, I would hope Mett would start the 2nd half.

I thought Mett looked good and optimistic he can help us this year or next. Two plays that showed his inexperience were the throw over the middle (didn't see the LB at all and could've been picked) and the fade to the left corner of the endzone when he had a WR wide open (Jarvis Landry?) in the middle of the field around the goal line.
  4. Lee would probably get one second-half drive, after adjustments, to make things happen first.

Les is smart by never throwing his upperclassman starters under the bus for playing well, just because there there is a promising youngster pushing him. The seniors have paid their dues and don't need to be looking over their shoulders after every busted play. Likewise youngsters still have much to learn and benefit by not being counted on too soon.

And these hot youngsters also know that when they are seniors they won't be pulled for a hot underclassmen after one busted play. And there is always a hot underclassman who the sunshine fans are screaming for. Wait until Mettenberger throws a pick 6 (it will happen) and watch the usual suspects start calling for Randall and Rivers.

Les gets the most out of everybody in this fashion and it deserves to be recognized. We don't get a lot of seniors transferring to find more playing time.

  5. If MSU is playing that good and we are playing that bad, Mett wouldn't stand a chance.
  6. We need both for this year , Lee cant do it alone . If Mett is our starter it will be due to injury . But i think as far as ability , Mett is light years ahead of Lee . Mett Has played a SEC defense before in his spring game aginst georiga . O and he threw for 130 yards are something like that . He also had better stats than Cam Cam in Jr. college by throwing 31 TDs and 3INTS to Newtons 18 TDs and 5 INTS . then come in our spring game and plays well . Jus be thankful he didnt go to BAMA cuz I guarentee you he would be there starting QB.
  7. I wouldn't equate a spring game with real deal SEC playing experience, not even close.
  8. and the crossing route over the middle and the post route to the corner of the endzone and the pocket presence and ability to slide in the pocket

other than that, he knows absolutely squat
  9. Is that what you call it??

I don't oppose Mett at all. The point of the OP still goes back to what red noted some time ago.

Lee doesn't have to suck ... for Mett to be considered a fantastic QB.

There is no justification at all to yank Lee when he is playing well and winning. Sure, he may never get off that back foot, he may be squeamish in the pocket, he may never make a positive yard rushing ... but if at the end of the game, the score is LSU=winning, opponent = losing, then Lee has done his job. When that stops ... I say put Mett in. Until then, keep developing Mett such that when he does take the reigns, he's on top of the game, not just in how much better he looks throwing the ball, but in every aspect.

As for the NCG comment .. Luck still doesn't have a NC. .. and he looks even better than Mett. Niether does Moore, or Jones, etc .....:geaux:
  10. Andrew Luck on this LSU team = national championship, they would have handed the trophy to us during spring practice
