Yep .. I agree. I've never understood why LSU doesn't draw the best of the best when it comes to QBs. .... or maybe it's just been we haven't had a decent QB coach in years ... I don't know. Mett's going to be fun to watch. .. but we'll only get two years of it. [maybe 2.5 if Lee goes down or goes mental].
I think JL did the right thing with the sack. Had he tried to run and fumbled the ball we might have given up another score. I think the unblocked guy had him zeroed in and he did what he could. With that said I also think when he feels pressure he needs to move in the pocket a little more. I am not making any excuses just think in hindsight he did the right thing. Punt it out and let your defense do its job.:thumb:
All the reports from Rivers HS coach were that he was further along than his brother at the same stage of development. Take that fwiw.
Can't argue with that. I'm through talking about the past. What's happened has happened, what was, was. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game to see "what is". I hope Lee does well. If he doesn't, I hope CLM yanks him and Mett does well. I think this is one of those special teams that can be exceptional. We have a lot of weapons ... a lights out defense, a fantastic OL, a good QB [to date] backed up by a potential great QB, TWO .. fantastic RBs, and very capable receiving core, and pretty outstanding Special Teams. I'm not a coach, .. I'm a "viewer" ... and so far, I'm liking what I see. :geaux:
It would take something big for Miles to yank Lee. Les knows he's going to need Lee the deeper we get into the SEC. The last thing he's going to do is shatter Lee's confidence by yanking him for 1 mistake. Like it or not, struggle or cruise, I think we'll be doing it with Lee tomorrow.
I didn't say yank Lee for a mistake or two ... I'm talking about a meltdown. I don't expect that too happen. It's already been noted, Lee will play the entire game. I have total confidence in Lee. I didn't mean to imply that I want Lee yanked at the first sign of trouble. Frankly, I don't expect any trouble. If Lee could handle Oregon on short notice, etc etc ... I think he will be much better against MooU. I expect he will throw in the 60-70% range .. probably complete 17-19 of 25 attempts for about 200-250 yrds. As noted in some of the comentary, His timing with the WRs was much improved in the NW game. I figure it will be better still for MooU. He's got a great OL to protect him, which should make him feel a tad more comfortable in the pocket. He's got two wins under his belt, and two solid performances. Lee has a HUGE advantage going into this season compared to his 2008 season .. .he has a running game to take the pressure off of him. Ford and Ware are dependable backs who can notch out the 4-5 yrd gain every play, thus the defense can't just sit back and focus on defending the pass. I think as long as CLM focuses on his game, ... runs, short to mid level passes, with the occassional air it out pass to keep the defense off balance, this game could turn out to be a blowout. I think the only thing that will limit the score on LSU's side will be "time" ... meaning that LSU will eat up as much clock as they can on each drive, which could limit the number of possessions, and thus opportunities to score. Of course, if the D forces a lot of 3 and outs for MooU, and we get some good FPs on turnovers and returns, that will increase the score. :geaux:
