  8. Exactly correct.

Why are people so afraid of even more success than that?

Sure, we had 11 years of pure mediocrity, but we turned that corner and took the program to a higher level. However, we've been stagnating at that level for some time now, and it's only gotten us to 2 conference championships under Smiles.

Any program at any level should strive to keep improving and moving up in caliber, through recruiting and coaching. LSU pretty much has the recruiting aspect figured out every year (except for QB - Smiles has yet to recruit his first real star talent at that position - but I guess you don't need a star QB if you plan to hand the ball off more times than not). As far as coaching, we've seen several changes at OC, etc. and still we can't get to the SECCG or the NC, so it's not the OCs. What's the only constant the last 10 years? Hmmm...

So, yes, 10 wins is better than not, but we may need a change to get us to yet the NEXT level.

True, we could get a worse coach, but guess what...we might also get a BETTER one. But we'll never know if we are constantly paralyzed with fear of the unknown (and handcuffed with these ridiculous contract extensions and massive buyouts).

In the meantime, the other SEC west teams are improving and chipping away at our prominent place (1st or 2nd) at the dinner table.
