I remember reading threads on this forum, before the season started, about what a great position it was to be in having to figure out how to use Russell Shepard. Our offense was going to be so good it would be "Scary"...How were the defenses going to cover RS and all our wide receivers and still be concerned about the running of Charles Scott...Shep was going to be another Percy Harvin...etc. I believe that Crowton is finally going to get that head coaching job he so richly deserves after this season.. (Izzy, is it too early to start the New OC search thread?)
Everyone keeps blaming Crowton for the team's offensive woes. Who does Gary Crowton work for? Why is his boss not seeing the same poor results that the fans are and demanding improvement? If an employee's poor performance affects the company's bottom line, a CEO would be inept if he allowed that employee to take the entire company down. Ultimately the buck stops with Leslie Miles. He needs to light a fire under Crowton's ass or "make him availible to the industry" as my old boss used to say. I hope Les doesn't let Crowton take him down. CLM is widely known a a sincerely nice guy. Let's hope he's not so nice to Gary Crowton that he takes the fall for him. It's not the first time he's allowed ineptitude on his staff to affect the team negatively.
Especially in the red zone. But they are starting to stack the box against him because he never throws. Coach needs to let him toss a couple just to keep the defenses honest.
I suspect there are a few solid reasons as to why he hasn't thrown a single pass all year long. But I agree, that letting him chuck one or two ducks down the field would keep the defense slightly more honest.
Keiland Williams ran the ball very strong last night. He made a lot of yards after contact and dragged defenders down field all night. It's a shame the coaching staff was so fixated on the passing game.
