I don't know why they throw to Addai so much.

I agree that the team cannot afford to have passes dropped, especially in critical situations. He may get open more than other receivers, but if he drops half of the passes thrown to him, then it cancels out. I saw him drop a very easy pass in the ASU game. It had no heat on it and it hit him right in the hands and he just couldn't catch it. He is superb in the back field, but at receiver he is just too inconsistent.

Let me chime in here. I've gotta give Joe Addai his due props, and not just because he is from Houston, where I've lived the past 19 years. I believe that, a healthy Addai and a healthy Vincent are absolute equals, in terms of the production they can provide to the LSU Tigers. I have been very impressed with how hard Addai runs from the time he first got the ball stuck in his gut in Tiger Stadium.

Mark my words: Some time during the course of this season, Joe Addai will score a game saving td for the Tigers on a relatively short pass that he catches and takes the distance with many yards after the catch by breaking tackles and making people miss him. You who are poo-poo'ing him or his ability will be very glad on that day that he is on the team and that the coaches kept calling pass plays to him. That's what I see in my crstal ball, anyway.

Skyler dropped many more passes early last season than Addai has this year, inlcuding like 3 vs UGA in the first game. He'll be fine as a receiver.

Like I said, others are just as capable :) :) JV may even be close to losing #1, even though he's just as good physically. Broussard is hot right now.

I agree, with all the posts in this thread, you are the first one to give Broussard his due props. Also, if you think JV is not in jeopardy of losing his spot, you're indenial. Ask yourself one simple question: Who was the feature back in the 2nd half against Auburn? The answer is Alley Broussard. You guys keep talking JV and Addai, but don't sweat Alley. He may be getting the most carries 3 or 4 games from now. But, no matter what, we will always be splitting time with our backs. And personally I don't mind which one is back there, I am content with the abilities of all 3 and have confidence that all 3 can get the job done.:geaux:

I think Addai has looked as good as any of our other receivers, except probably Bowe. I am in favor of continuing to give him reps as long as he makes plays. He is good at getting open, his is a decent receiver, and above average runner. When Doucet and/or Carter start playing like starters, maybe Saban can move Addai somewhere else. Right now I think Saban views Addai as one of the best athletes and playmakers we have, so that's why he's getting reps at RB & WR. I agree with Saban's approach, at least until one of the youngsters steps up and establishes that he's a better option.
