Saban at LSU followed the same strategy as Miles. We have more depth of talent and no schools to battle for them in-state. Nick has to cherry pick more than before.
Not all budgets are measured the same. For example, while one program may include aircraft operations within their athletic recruiting budget, another program may not report those same line items. IMO, it gets complicated when trying to compare ....
Looks like we get the biggest bang for our recruiting buck out of all the teams listed. Nothing like home grown talent!
That is definitely a great way to look at it and you are absolutely right we do get the biggest bang for our buck. And you could definitely add to that statement by saying. Now I wonder what would happen if we opened up the purse strings and spent the budget that any of the top 8 universities are spending "which by the way 6 of the top 8 are SEC schools we compete with" I wonder if that would mean we would be that much more successful???? Makes you think hopefully You see we have one of the most profitable Athletic departments in the Country. They can't take the money to the grave so spend a little more on getting athletes to the school in all programs. I mean it just makes sense to me sense those Athletic programs are the programs that contribute to making he Athletic Department so profitable. If they spent an extra $600,000 on recruiting across the board I don't think it would affect anything academically at our school.
Well you certainly have a point here. A 13-1 season, SEC Championship, multiple televised wins over ranked opponents, and a birth (albeit unsuccessful) in the BCS Championship game is clearly not up to par. Hope we can do a lot better with our next coaching hire. :dis:
Well that would be fine with me. But just what we need to maintain our recruiting advantage. I would prefer that a bigger donation be made to the academic side because they are struggling with budget cuts. After all they are Student-athletes.
