Crip there has not been any looting at all in BR. There has only been one person arrested that was from NO. There has been no violence to speak of. There will be tons of police at the game. Life has got to go on, i realize you understand that but you can't live your life in fear. The shootings are only in a small part of NO, I really believe everybody would be safe.
Where are these police coming from? BR officials already said LSU will have to supply their own security should we play. BR law enforcement is stretched really thin right now with all the additional people in town. I think security and traffic control are the major issues for the game. If they can solve that problem, I think we'll play.
I hope your right, But after all the B.S. stories I have seen and heard this weekend I like Auburn fans more then I like the media right now. Just because you dont here it dont mean it aint happening. And from a friend that hit me with a text message this morning, he is in the guard there is shooting going on. Life will go on it always has but it goes on when the time is right. I still think it is to early. And I have gotten first hand reports from my brother that lives on Aster Street. That there quite a few more people then usally walking the streets in the places that most people try to stay out of. Like I said though please let me be wrong, I would be so happy if I am, I just got a bad feeling. And that is not living in fear, it is being cautious.
I got carjacked twice on the way to the store today! I stole a car after my car was taken from me, then it got carjacked too! I figured people would just think I was a "New Orleans refugee" anyways when i stole the car.
Here's the comment from a BR official. From The Advocate... Walter Monsour, Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden's chief administrative officer, said the university does not need permission from the city to proceed with a game. However, with city police and East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff officers needed to assist with the hurricane relief effort, LSU might have to arrange for its own security force from law enforcement agencies from outside the immediate area.
Aster ST. has never really been a place that you would want to be ... at any time. I don't doubt that some of the evacuees walked straight from the PMAC by the fieldhouse and through the neighborhood there looking for something to do.
Yeah I don't think the concern is violence. At least not on my end. There have been over 100 rumors of turmoil, of which exactly 1 had any truth to it. And even that wasn't attributed to refugees. In fact, I've noticed a much calmer and more tolerant mood from the BTR natives than I expected in the past few days. My biggest concern is the well-being of the unhealthy evacuees at the PMAC. Once the tailgating gets started, getting anyone out of there is going to be quite difficult if by roadway.
Can't we just stop the arguing and cheer for the Tigers? This is coming from the strongest advocate of us playing too! We need to stop fighting each other in this difficult time!
