In my honest opinion, I see no way in hell LSU starts this Tuesday.

Now, I think they start sooner then later...maybe Monday of the following week.

But this Tuesday? No way. There is too much going on right now in BR

I'm with ya buddy, I'm with ya... BUT... I can understand a delay of a few days, but no matter HOW bad things are... you cannot just cancel a season of LSU football--or postpone it for that matter. That would be like cancelling soccer in mexico or brazil.. It may seem pretty inconsiderate but if the SAINTS (who are a NEW ORLEANS TEAM) can play a day or two AFTER Katrina, why can't LSU play... somewhere, anywhere? I mean that for the UNT game too. I know that football pales in comparison to New Orleans, but I really think the decent people are accounted for. All that is left are idiotic thugs. Out of respect, I'd say postpone the game to a monday or something, but... whatever.

We can not afford to shut down the university for a semester. We can not afford to call of the football season. It would be a death blow for LSU, the Baton Rouge community and the state of Louisiana. It will also show the nation and the world that we can not handle adversity. Arrangements need to be made to take care of refugees in a safe, secure and humane manner without disrupting everything. Perhaps we will need some time to make these arrangements but I do not think the idea of putting off school for a semester is a good idea. Worst comes to worst, we can play ASU and TN away and play Florida at home and perhaps give the students two weeks to a month break. The sooner we try to establish normalcy the faster we will get there.

With all due respect to my fellow tiger fans but all this talk about how we must be playing in TS next Saturday night is just plain foolish. Good lord people, everyone Ive talked to in BR is telling me exactly what 99 has posted on this board. The city is in a rush hour traffic situation 24 hours a day and the population of BR is expected to DOUBLE...DOUBLE by Monday. I will be hanging my head in shame if we do anything to compromise the releif effort in any way whatsoever regardless of how small.

Of course LSU should be playing football but move our home games to Shreveport or something. We simply can not put any strain on those good people who would be busy with related relief work to put them on duty for a football game. It makes no sense to me.

No they would not be the end of the world but it will be the death penalty for LSU football, recruiting, leave the university in great financial difficulty.

Instead of putting them off, we should try to establish normalcy. We should play a few of our home opponents away if necessary but we need to establish normalcy.

It ain't all that bad, drc. I've been in BR and on campus the whole week. BR is holding up well. I got my power back today and all of BR will have by midnight. Much of the emergency efforts going on around the stadium is to support the immediate evacuation of New Orleans. That effort is progressing. By next Friday, that job will be finished and the work will change to restoring the infrastructure. The situation is evolving.

When the flow of evacuees stops, the PMAC will not be needed as a triage center anymore. Already the stream of helicopters going to the PMAC has slowed. The NO airport is now open and being used by relief agencies. Much of the staging that is going on in BR will move south, closer to the problem as power is restored in the river parishes. Trucks that have been using the big parking lots at LSU will be moved when the students return to classes next week anyway. Mall parking lots are being used for some of that already.

It's the chancellor's call and he has the information needed to make it. I think LSU is committed to playing the game and it will not impact the relief efforts negatively.

It pains me to say it, but Sean and Skip are going to be criticized no matter what decision they make, particularly from the politicians and the media. A decision has to be made soon. This is one you can't wait until Thursday night to make the decision.

wow - what an misinformed idiotic statement. there are a lot of decent people in attics and on roofs in orleans and st benard parishes. I know for a fact that in st. bernard which suffered serious flooding, many people have been neglected. one of my dad's friends made it out on a boat and is currently chartering fishing boats from orange beach, AL to rescue people. they feel everyone has forgotten about them. when it's all said and done, there will be thousands of 'decent' people found dead in their homes.
