I agree. Things that can return to normal, should. We can't wallow around in our misery forever. Here's how I think things should go in order of importance: 1. Kill armed thugs hampering rescue 2. Fix levee 3. Kill armed thugs hampering recovery 4. Get the water out of the city 5. Kill armed thugs hampering drainage 6. Play some football
You don't know what will happen between now and Tuesday. That's almost 4 days worth of setting up camps and shelters.
If the Yankees could play a week after 9/11, the Tigers can play a week after this hurricane. Life must go on.
I dont see why they wouldnt play the game. But, if they are still housing people at the PMAC, it wouldnt be right to be partying on campus.
Who will kill the armed thugs? I heard Gov Blanco say that "necessary force" could be used to deal with looters. That's a very different term of art than "deadly force." I doubt that any leader has the political will to authorize use of deadly force.
There is no doubt in my mind that we will be playing ASU next weekend. I do think there is a chance the game may be moved to ASU based on what happens the next few days. There are just too many unknowns as of today. There is little doubt in my mind that we'll be playing Tennessee in Tiger Stadium.
Sometimes that is what is necessary. And in a case like this where even rescue workers are coming underfire I would say that it is justified.
Thank goodness I'm not reading these posts from a roof top, I'd jump the next time I saw someone compare this to 9-11. Can't the people that keep posting this realize they are not similar scenario's at all. The Bronx was not the focal point for relief efforts in trying to help over a million people, there was no triage and emergency traffic control set up for moving injured and dead within a few blocks of the stadium, there weren't thousands of refugee's staying in homes and hotels, etc., etc.
