nice timmyt. I think the classic "USC Sucks" if LSU wins would be nice echoing around the dome while they are trying to do postgame. It will be just like before Saban went on last night where some LSU fan in Jackson Square kept chanting "LSU, LSU". You could hear it so clearly in the background. Very Nice.
Here is what Herbstreit is quoted as saying in the Advocate this morning: ---------------------------------- "What shocked me, when I landed here, was all the talk from the local media in the press conference. Questions like, 'Does this diminish your game since S.C. won?' I guess it's a natural thought or a natural question. But I mean LSU finished the year playing as well as anybody in the nation. And before Oklahoma lost its last game, we're saying they're the best team in the history of college football. And all of a sudden, USC looks so good, which is great for them. But now, we're just going to throw away LSU and Oklahoma? Is it diminished? Absolutely not." Herbstreit, like most national media here, said there should be co-national champions regardless of who wins out of LSU and USC. ------------------------------------- That seems to be the opposite of what he seems to have said on TV - which confirms in my mind that these guys say on TV what they are told to say in order to present conflicting viewpoints, stir up controversy and argue for the entertainment of the viewers. The producers of Gameday want people to talk about Herb Kirkstreit (or whatever) and how controversial he is. They seem to be getting their wish.
The winner of the Sugar Bowl will be the OFFICIAL National Champion. I totally disagree with anyone who claims there will be a split championship. LSU & Oklahoma have the best records in college football & definitely are the two best teams in America. The sad part is today's loser will end up ranked below USC even though they will have beaten better teams all year.
