How would you feel about our season if Saban was the coach?

If Saban were our coach--- There would be 482 people viewing this forum and rampant rumors about his departure. Crawfish would have the highest post count on the board.

True that. Though most would be lurking to get info about the coming game. With genuine excitement and anticipation.

"So (fill in recruit's name here), how many NFL teams have inquired about coach x at that other school you're considering?" - N. Saban

    Ah, 'twas good times.

I would feel like we had a 10-2 season with some major problems that will addressed during the off season. Kinda like I do now.

Who's expectations? My barometer for a great year was winning the SEC, a good year of winning the west. Sure, the pundits all thought LSU was stocked with NFL talent, and that did not appear to be the case. I would have never pinned such hopes on a sophomore QB, new coach, and then a hurricane-addled team.

And yep, I'm a Miles Supporter. I have no impact whatsoever on personnel decisions at LSU, so I choose to support who we've got and enjoy the ride. IMO, time will tell how Miles works out, but right now I'm pleased.

NOTE: The 8 win thing was an honest jab at those that feel some sort of divine right to championships, despite LSU's admittedly average history in that area.

I think this is one of the greatest questions asked so far and it has put some things in perspective for me. The question has undoubtedly now shown me my bias against Miles.

If Saban had lost to Tennessee the way we did this year I would have been stunned. But more so I would have worried about the ass whipping he would have put on the players and assistants with that kind of loss. I would have considered it (the loss) an oddity.

But then I would still have been frustrated with the AZ St. game and the overtime at Alabama and the close call with Auburn but I would not have really dwelled on it.

I would have liked a decent ass whipping against either Auburn or Bama or Florida. I would have expected a 17 point or more win against one of them.

Because it's Miles I put out more frustration towards him.

If Saban had lost to Georgia this year in the SECCG like that I would have been royally pissed! I would have questioned what the hell was going on!

But since it's Miles I'm down harder on him. I would have instinctively cut Saban more slack because of the MNC and other conference championships.

So since Miles isn't Saban I have to admit I am judging him more harshly.

    Good question. Very thought provoking.

I don't see how anyone who attended the SEC championship game and saw that our team was ill-prepared, who saw our players standing on the sidelines with hands on hips and who saw virtually no in-game adjustments can be satisfied our hopeful about the leadership of this team.

Very well said, but Nick got whacked by UGA worse than that. Saban's team threw in the towel after the second fumble in Athens. Players were standing on the sidelines with hands on hips with no adjustments.
With all that said, it would be great for Miles to depart on his own. Like a smooth divorce.....don't own anything, no kids involved, just move on. The future is the concern, not the 10-2 record. Bozo the clown could coach this much talent.

The idiocy of this post truly astounds me ...

Saban would have played a BS defensive game plan against ASU that caused media to write off LSU's defense early this year and surrendered 35 points to ASU

Saban would have blown a 21-0 halftime lead and CHOKED against Tennessee like LESS SMILES? ... ... LSU would have stomped a mudhole in them ... Think Saban would have allowed Fats Domino to keep his starting QB up 20 hours a day ... NOT A ****ING SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL, PODNAH!!!!

Saban would have isolated and protected his team from this tragedy with strict rules for the better good of this team. Appearances would have been authorized and planned. Sleep patterns ... Saban coached teams practiced SLEEP HYGIENE ... look it up on Google you idiots ... and would have blown Tennessee and their injured OL out of Tiger Stadium ... Clausen or not.

Saban's discipline and motivation would have LSU near the bottom of College FB statistics in areas of DRIVE KILLING penalties ... and don't forget turnover ratio ... You Miles homers kill me ... you're not quite dismissed yet

Would the discipline, extremely intelligent conditioning programs, and platooning of RBs by Saban allowed our Rushing game to be one of the best in the SEC, one of the healthiest, not the most injured. How many serious injuries did LSU suffer under Saban? Imagine Broussard playing against GA ...

Against a lame ass rushing defense of USC ...

Saban would have made a trip to Dallas to whine about a Cotton Bowl berth and suck off Skip on the way ... I think Saban would have told Skip something along the lines of ... ARE YOU ****ING INSANE?

Saban would have had this team "SO JACKED UP" to put some serious payback on the Georgia Bulldogs ... for their embarrassing win over LSU in 2004 ... He would have the defensive game plan to prevent these big passing plays ... 6 completions in the entire game for GA ... IMO, a Saban coached LSU team, undefeated at the time ... would have allowed GA no more than 10 points. You wouldn't stomp Saban twice with the talent LSU has on defense.

Yes, with the KNOWN talent (unrealized by Miles & Co this year), that includes #1 ranked recruiting classes in 2003 and the Top 5 classes Saban hauled in ... Would have LSU ranked #1, 2 and maybe 3 in the series of polls that comprise the BCS and the AP. At a minimum, a Saban coached LSU would have stolen most of Texas' thunder this year. The rest of College FB wouldn't have had the guts to slight the SEC two years in a row ...

AND THE ROAR FOR AN LSU-USC match would be deafening!
It's Alley Broussard ... he's gone Vern ... for another LSU touchdown! They're filing out of this Rose Bowl stadium now, Vern! I've never seen a team so fired up as this LSU team in all my years of watching college FB. Nick Saban is a shoe-in for "ANOTHER" AP Coach of the Year.

And what about those rumors Saban is headed to the NFL, Vern? Saban can write his own check in the NFL ... and get that Total Control he wants. Just look at this guy, Vern ... screaming at his players to get off the field ... with less than 1 minute left and a solid 14-point lead ... They'll be celebrating in Baton Rouge tonight, Vern ... Yesirrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeee

I didn't even read the replies Cparso, but my take is that no one would have had much of a problem with this season.

Matter of fact, we pretty much had the same season this year that we did last year, Saban's final year.

No one was critical of Saban's season last year. There was some grumbling about his performance in the Cap. One, but if he wouldn't have left, everyone would have been okay with his season in '04 and '05, no doubt in my mind.
