OK, I’ll ask. Why is that process called “reduced?” I know a lot of med terms make little or no sense to the average guy. So many people are throwing that term around, I feel I missed something along the way.

They do it on purpose to seem more mysterious. Only doctors are allowed to read The Secret Book of Witch Doctory,

    KyleK asked last evening. Response:

"The dislocated femur--thigh bone--pops partially or even fully out of its cup (a ball & socket arrangement). This has to be reduced--put back into original position--soonest to reduce the risk of blood vessel & nerve injury, tearing etc. Once back in, if the patient is lucky, the risks for further harm and loss of blood supply to the tissues is minimized. Then they can work on CT etc to see what else happened.

Oh, and once reduced, the patient--Tua, for instance--has a huge reduction of pain.

He's young & healthy; one hopes for the best possible return to normal for the kid!"

Looking at Tua in hospital dancing I wish they had given me some of whatever they gave him. All I got was saline, nausea pain killer and more blood pressure meds,
