When we win its because our opponent is overrated. When USC wins it will be because they are a great team.

But who cares. If we keep winning we will go to the national championship game.

This question has been answered by the polls... LSU lost first place votes.. USC gained... its good to be on the Left Coast..

This is exactly my thought on this. Although I'm not concerned since LSU controls it's own destiny at this point, I'd like to hear some honest discussion about how mediocre USC's defense seems to be this year.

Pete plays off of the receivers till they get to the 50 and, so far, Idaho and Nebraska have exploited that pretty well, hitting the quick slants. Bottom line is that they are still allowing 20 points per game and I'd take our defense in a second. USC's secondary is probably their achilles heel right now though.

I read that one of their "Talented" linebackers, Rey Maualuga, has a tendency to overpursue and still has some things he needs to learn (He's a Jr.). Their other big-time playmaker, Brian Cushing, didn't play last night but there are many USC fans who'd agree that there defense isn't quite where ours is right now.

They also recognize that LSU it every bit as good as USC too. Here's a post from their board.

To say USC's D is mediocre is going a bit far IMO. Last night Nebraska gained just 31 yards rushing. Keller ended up with 389 but 170 of those came in the 4thQ when the game was basically over and he threw two INT's. Nebraska scored 10 early and then not again for two more quarters. When you're losing, passing is expected and some are going to connect.

Tiga's right in terms of our secondary. So far, I'd say they are not playing to expectations and the soft zone doesn't help but I'm not the coach. Our LB unit it still terrific. Cushing was out and his replacement Clay Matthews broke his thumb early and never returned to the game. Maiva played a good game in replacement there. Rey made some mental mistakes with two penalties including the one that turned their field goal into a TD opportunity and they capitalized on it. Our D line was in Keller's face all night and interruped his rhythm. Ellis and Jackson looked great.

Which is 4 more yards than LSU's D has given up in TOTAL YARDS for the season thus far.

Or 3 more points than LSU has allowed through 3 games combined thus far.

Our D hasn't had that problem yet.

We hung 40 with our back-up QB (3rd and 4th string QB's also took snaps), our top receiver didn't even dress out either. Plus we gave up a total of 90 yards to a team that just hung 40 + on a top 10 team a week ago.

    Re: OKLA. USC and LSU

Yes OU is very good, despite having a RS Freshman QB. He has been looking good. Their WR's are really good and they have a couple of good RB's and the defense is speedy.

OU has a better chance of going undefeated than USC and especially LSU. If OU and USC go undefeated and LSU looses 1 game, I'm afraid we will not be in the NC game. We need OU and USC to lose one.

The Big 12 is down and OU will probably steam roll on through the Big 12 championship game. It really sucks for us because we have to play in the SEC plus a SECCG. Anybody can beat anybody in the SEC and Kentucky putting it on Louisville proves that. Stupid Aubun negates that comment though.:dis:

On 10.6, the entire CFB world will be watching LSU - Florida. If we beat them and look good doing it, we'll get some of those 1st place votes back. Just watch.

if lsu looks good against usc (#12) and tulane then beats uf (#3) they will jump to #1. (if uf wins they will jump to #1--and easier than lsu would) so. cal's schedule has the tough teams near the end.

If we look good against UF and beat them. We better pass USC. At that point USC will have play Wash and Wash St and maybe Stanford I think.

If we beat UF and don't pass USC it will be complete and under bias dominating the polls. I don't see that happening.

If we beat UF we will be #1, but we have to take it to the other USC first.
