While I hate the fact that USC can claim a split championship in 2003, I have moved on. It was nice to see their "dynasty" lose against Texas but I am tired of arguing about the 2003 season.
I will never ever acknowledge the USC claim to 2003. I blame the media for the disgracefull campaign and the complete disregard for what is right and the justice that should have been LSU's recognition. The people of USC including their sorry unethical Coach have behaved in a way that brings dishonor to the NCAA and the system with which they signed on to be a part of then disgraced when they proclaimed themselves #1 in a selfish and conspired media conspiracy. USC has shown a complete lack of respect for the institution and rules and i will never pull for them in any sport in any event. It is clear they think they are above the rules and above the laws that the other institutions are expected to follow. They are only rivalled in their disdane by me by the sports media that kisses their a&&es and moves forward their agenda in a shameless way. Keith Jackson is the biggest homer of them all. To say he is impartial in a USC game is to say that the world is square and made of chocolate. He makes me sick and always has. In case you didnt get my meaning in this post i will hate USC for the rest of my life because of what happenned in 2003. I hope they lose every stinking game they ever play in and i feel enraged by the mere thought of them being claimed as #1. Other than that i have no problems with USC
Fact of the matter is that any organization that wants to rank teams can award a National Champion... so, yes, USC did win a national championship... the one awarded by the AP... LSU, however, won the national championship that the d1-a teams agreed would be the official one...
I agree wholeheartedly with you CalcoTiger. But a conspired media conspiracy? Sorry, I just had to point that one out.
Yes, the NCAA officially "does not conduct a national championship in Division I-A football". They do, however, provide poll information for the curious. http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/ia_football_past_champs.html
That site http://lsuoverusc.blogspot.com has been updated recently with even more good stuff. I find it rather astonishing that with how much attention and anger this movement has gotten and generated that USC fans have not formulated some sort of response to the argument. Aren't USC folk supposed to be smarter than we are? Judging by their response of copycat billboards and possible lawsuits, they certainly care, so that's no excuse. The best way to shut up LSU fans would be to write a convincing rebuttal to this argument. But I'm thinking they just don't have one. LSU = logic, reason, contracts, merit, and legitimacy on its side. USC = ad hominems, red herrings, bogus lawsuits, and copycat ideas on its side.
