I'm going with my son, who turns 10 next month. We'll be there the first 5 days, but not thru the championship, unfortunately. It will actually be both our first college baseball games. Didn't make any when I was at LSU.
Try to stay at the Holiday Inn Downtown. They are probably sold out, but my kids have always loved staying there. It has its own (small) indoor water park that they spent a lot of time in. Omaha is HOT.
Thanks. Actually, one of my close friends from my military days lives in Omaha, so we'll be staying w/them. He has a connection through the Rotary that may be able to get us tickets, and to attend a team luncheon (not sure which team yet, hopefully, the Tigers).
Kansas State losing to Oregon State 4-3 top 9. Kansas State has played poorly in this game and yet still has a shot to win it, with their last bat in the bottom of the 9th. Allowed an unearned run on a simple grounder to short. Didn't score with 2 men on and nobody out. Just had the tying run thrown out at the plate. Can't understand how the runner at 2nd didn't have a better jump with 2 outs and a single to left that was trapped by the outfielder.
Something tells me Kansas State is going to win this game in the bottom of the 9th. Oregon State could have put this game away in the middle innings and failed to do so. Usually when you let your opponent hang around, you end up paying dearly.
