    right. they dont make money off mail anymore because the worls is permanently different. we are not gonna suddenly go back to mailing checks to pay our bills. the old system is dead. thats why they will lose money from here until forever. they are not self sustaining and never will be again.

    That's not what I said. They will simply raise rates to cover expenses, just like Fed-ex and UPS do.

    You are not the world. The post office moves lots of volume. My mailbox is full every day . . . letters, packages, cards, boxes, advertisements (it makes mail cheap), samples, magazines, catalogs and more.

    Mail volume has declined somewhat because of email, but it did not disappear by a long shot. People still send stuff that can't be typed on a black berry. Snail mail will never disappear.
