Purvis is indeed in MS, about 10 miles south of Hattiesburg, The Hub City. Is there a town in LA north of Broussard known as the hub city? I was born and raised in LA, and have not heard of one, so I just assumed you were talking about Hattiesburg as the hub city. Hattiesburg is so named because of it's central location to N.O., Mobile, and Jackson. There's some historical meaning to it, but I have only lived here for a few years, and haven't picked up on it yet. And yes, our high school in Purvis uses Purple and Gold and their colors, as does Hattiesburg High, and they are in fact the Hattiesburg High Tigers. Geaux figure. One of our high school baseball coaches is an LSU alum, and there are many alums that I know of in both Purvis and Hattiesburg. If you were to stroll through the mall here, you would find more LSU gear than Ole Miss or MSU. It's kinda funny to me, in a Tiger sort of way.:thumb:
My stepdaughter lives in Purvis with her Dad. He hates the Tigers with a passion. We bring her to every LSU game and has growm to love everything about them. She now wears LSU gear, makes her Dad watch all the games on TV, and makes him put the Golden Band From Tigerland CD on in the car wherever they go. You know it is tearing him up inside. :dis:
