Never said I thought it was only the coordinators or head coaches fault. It is all of them. Miles in no way has lost the locker room or support from his staff. Higher ups are worried about staleness of the program. Reminds me of the Texas sistuation who kept someone too long and LSU is making sure they are ready if need be.
Either Les is dictating the style of play and therefore indirectly handcuffing his assistants, or he has been an awful evaluator of coaching and player talent. Perhaps both. Either way, all roads lead to the Hat.
I do like this post. If LSU wins out, season won't be so bad. There will still be concerns with Les at the helm, but if he can keep the bottom from falling out, that's a win. But if we win out, do we replace coordinators? OC, ST, DC? Doesn't seem likely we replace Steele one year in. Not sure even Miles believes our offense is Cameron's fault. We may be talking Peveto only. Can't imagine boosters who are fed up with Miles care if Cameron stays if Miles is staying. You think Miles can keep his hands off the play calling? You think a 5 million dollar figurehead and ceo is worth it? Why not just get a coach who can coach? It could work with a superstar OC hire, but that doesn't seem real likely.
I know LSU needs to fire the OC and ST coordinators if they aren't going to make a change at the top.
Just pull out the stops and have fun the next couple of weeks. Coach like there's no tomorrow. If you don't there won't be. The thing that concerns me is that if he does win out and sticks around, how hard is it going to be for him to go against his nature to hang on to bad situations too long?
I agree with this 100% Outside of Mettenberger's ridiculous senior year with arguably the best WRs in LSU history, the entire feel of the offense changed after the pick 6's. We seemed to change from playing to win, to playing not to lose. Prevent defense makes me crazy, but watching prevent OFFENSE is unbearable. I just don't think that is a winning formula, and it sets a bad tone for the whole team. I also agree with several others in sincerely wishing Miles could just totally let go of the offense and allow it to be aggressively run autonomously by a dynamic coordinator. We may well have had such coordinators in the past, and we may have one now . . . I find it hard to believe guys whose jobs are only devoted to developing offense would all morph into what we consistently see at LSU. Buck stops with the head coach. He is the only constant and made all the hires.
