Just a thread for thoughts on how Les can remain here and get better results. You are free to write "leave," "retire," "get the hell outta Baton Rouge" and such. But that wouldn't be helpful, humorous, or original. 1. Part with Cameron. Hire someone with some idea of how to run a more contemporary offense. Let this new hire call the plays. 2. Replace the ST staff. 3. Focus on the things he does well - recruiting, running a clean program, mentoring young men, being a positive influence in the community. Be the CEO. Delegate. Any other ideas?
Miles needs to totally turn over the offensive reigns to a competent OC -- Cam needs to go. Perhaps a good blueprint to follow is what Saban has done with Kiffin. Bama is still run-first, but there's enough spread and passing sprinkled in to make it successful. Other than the QB position, I would argue that LSU's skill players on offense are better than Bama's. The OL is another issue, although the LSU OL this year was good enough for the first 7 games.
Here are the ages of LSU's unit coaches: Steele - 57 Cameron - 54 Peveto - 52 Goodness, that is old. I'd like to see some more energetic guys in their 30s and 40s replace at least two - maybe all three - of these men. Alabama's D is run by a 39-year-old who took the job when he was 33. Oklahoma State's OC is not yet 40. Bob Stoops ran UF's D when he was in his 30s. Same with Mark Richt at FSU.
what indication do you have that Coker is a better QB. They prepare him better for sure, but talent wise he is not.
Even the greatest O line in the country couldn't stop defensive fronts when they are out-manned 8 to 5 and every soul watching knows that we are about to toss it to Leonard up the middle. We're just too predictable and I've never been a Miles basher but my patience is wearing thin with him and I now believe that his best days as a coach might be behind him. Seems to be a fine man so I hope he proves me wrong but if I'm right I'd like to see the administration acting sooner rather than later.
Honest question. A recurrent accusation I've seen is that Miles' influence on the offense is overbearing and overruling of the OC's approach. What evidence do we have that this is the case?
Meh, could be. Last week against State the gumps had 23 offensive plays in the 1st half. Of those 23 guess how many were runs? Survey says...8
