I just finished reading an article about Eric Reid and about him switching to defense and that being a positive change in his football career. At the end of the article he mentions that he has a 3 year old child. We hear a lot of reasons why kids are leaving early to enter the NFL. You hear that a lot of the kids say they have to leave to help their families. I wonder now how many of them mean that they have to get a pay check so that they can support theri own families, meaning their own children? Any idea how many of the Tigers leaving early for the NFL have children already? Any idea how many current Tigers already have children? I certainly can see how that factors into leaving early more so than most reasons I hear given, yet I don't hear that reason ever given at all. I know that players having children when they enter school or during their tenure is probably more common than is published.
Roughly about 30% of the team has kids. Tharold Simon knew all year he was going because of this. Hilliard had twins during the season and so on
I went to U High eons ago. I don't remember anyone in high school having a kid. Times have changed. You have young kids with adult issues to deal with. I guess the good news for them is that it is about the money and there may be money to be made. I think Trent Richardson had 3-4 kids when he left Bama.
The sad thing about that number is that teen pregnancy is at the lowest rates in decades right now. I guess 50% of the 1995 team had kids.
Ha! That was certainly NOT true of my high school back in the 80's. There were always 4 or 5 pregnant girls walking around--sometimes more. Now, while I'm chasing around 11 and 8 year old daughters, a number of those girls are grandmas. (I'm FAR too young to be a grandma!)
Tim Williams. LSU backed away from him, reportedly because of off-the-field issues. He'll fit right in at Bama.
