Exactly what I thought. I was not impressed with the hire at all initially. Picking a coach is often a crapshoot. Success at one program does not guarantee success at another. That said, there is no reason that a good coach and recruiter can't keep a school like LSU in the top 10 year in and year out. I just hope the administration does its homework and picks the right guy. For whatever reason, Bertman is not inspiring a lot of confidence.

I think he's gone, I will be happy when this is over.
And the only good thing is we won't have to look forward to this time every year any more.

I agree that I think he is gone, but something interesting is happening. First, the DC at the University of Miami has turned down the interview because he knows he does not have a shot and for that matter all of the black candidates know they don't have a shot. Art Shell is still scheduled for Monday.

Harry Carson, a linebacker for the Giants, is crying foul concerning the hiring process. Stating this is nothing more than going through the motions. That none of the candidates have a legitimate shot.

If they are giving Coach Saban both GM and HC responsibility are doing the same with the other candidates. Please don't answer that I know the answer.

My thoughts is that would Coach Saban get upset with this process and stay in Baton Rouge. I feel that what is all going on with this he might get disenchanted with the whole thing.

    Just a thought.

    Sprint,
This is why I say 60% chance he is gone. If the offer is perfect, he will leave LSU. On the other hand, there are many people involved in the process with big egos. Arrogance can ruin any deal. I believe this deal can blow up. However, I don't know if it is in our best interest to have a coach that wanted a deal in Miami, but stayed for the wrong reasons. If that happened, I would expect we will be going thru this same situation very very soon.

You have to laugh at this quote from the first article:

Or, he could follow another path: Stay at MSU, continue the trend of improvement and return the Spartans to PERRENIAL NATIONAL SUPREMACY, while becoming a Joe Paterno, Woody Hayes or Bo Schembechler-like college coaching icon.

That possibility is realistic and it's safe to assume Saban knows it.

Good, it's been decided, Saban stays.

If you had asked me Friday I'd say he's staying. Now, it appears to me that he's waiting out Miami's charade of interviewing minority candidates. It may be that there's been a snag in the total control of personnel thing, but if Miami really wants him, they'll meet his demands. It pains me to say this, but, I think he's gone.

I'm going to stick with my gut from the beginning and say that he is staying...
