Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? Sorry it's taken me so long to get back here, but I've been real busy lately. My prediction for the Irish - 8-4. They still won't come close to USC, but I can't confidently say who the other 3 losses will be, I just see them coming. For the Irish haters out there, here's a few predictions to get ready for from the media: Clause will be much better than he was last year (not that hard), and the media will begin to trip over themselves to dump praise on him. He won't be anywhere near as good as they proclaimed him to be, but based upon how he looked in the spring, he will be good enough to make the media start talking about him. ND will beat Michigan, and then the media will go crazy about how great Charlie was to turn things around. I know the win won't mean anything b/c Michigan will be horrible, but mark my words - he'll be back on 60 minutes after that win. If ND can some how get really lucky and pull out 9 wins, they will be back in a BCS game (whether we deserve it or not), and depending on when the losses come, they'll be mentioned in the title hunt as well. I know this will upset several of my fellow LSU alumni when this happens, but trust me the above will happen in one form or another. I'm just holding out until the fall. I do believe it will be a better season for me as an Irish fan, and contrary to what others think, I also think Charlie will be able to win at ND. I just don't expect to be like we were in the Holtz era.
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? See Old Bandit? One objective reached. Sup buddy? Good to hear from you. Good and balanced post as usual bro. :thumb:
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? The talent at ND is overrated. They may have athletes, but they don't have "football players". The Irish are a victim of their own popularity and Charlie believes his own hype. 2008 record 4-8.
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? Those last three games are crucial for Alabama fans. They want to beat LSU, but I think they do not want to lose to State three years in a row more. Then of course there's the second index finger looming two weeks later.
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? As far as I know Burns came out as starter. They have a transfer in and I don't think he's a JUCO player that has had some shoulder problems that has limited his participation. If the season started today their offense (from the QB perspective) would rest on Burns legs, not his arm. David can offer more of an opinion/perspective on how they came out of the spring. Nothing against Tony Franklin, but I don't consider him to be "that guy" when it comes to an offensive coordinator. Their new defensive coordinator looks like a good one.
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? I guess they understand football better than upstanding youths and don't need to be taught anything.
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? Good to see you back man. Hope this year goes better. I believe that. I believe that as well. I got a little sick in my stomach at the thought of this. I think the only alums that will be upset are the the school that is forced to play an undeserving Irish team in a BCS bowl, and of course, the Irish themselves when you fail to win another bowl game. Though you could hold out hope for a Georgia-Hawaii scenario. I think it will be better for you as well, and while a BCS bowl could happen thanks to the extra consideration you get, you guys are far away from being able to represent well in that game. Baby steps..
Re: How many loses next year for ND and Bama? In regards to the above posts about ND winning 9 games and getting BCS consderation, if that happens, I don't see how another bowl beatdown won't eventually cause ND to have to earn their bowl bid like the rest of us. I can hope anyway.
