How many head coaches sit their best offensive weapon against a team like TCU?

Not only is it admirable that CLM sat Hill, but like everything he does, it is done w/in the team, not media. He keeps moves close to the vest. For that reason, he gets few accolades, and his detractors strictly only have issues like clock management, play calling to comment on, not integrity or discipline.

I agree w/Islstl, JHill appears to be our best player, thus CLM sat his BP. I thought going into the game that Blue was better based on the fact that he was the starter to begin last year, and all of the comments from teammates, coaches, etc. But watching him last night, I would say that Hill has the most upside. He can take it to the house at any time. Blue not only fumbled, but he missed blocks, and just didn't look particularly patient or explosive, at least to my eye.

Edit: I would say Mettenberger is our best player overall right now, certainly was last night.

Miles didnt do ANYTHING special here by sitting Hill. He did what he should have and was expected to do. Had Miles NOT sat Hill then there would be something to talk about. I dont care if its Bama, Hill sits.

everyone has their own opinion about what a good sec team starts with, but i don't think many would look back at the last 7 national championships and say the quarterback was the most important. mostly, quarterbacks (except cam newton) in this league have not lost games that mattered. defense has been the one trademark that comes to mind on a consistent basis. lsu and bama have been the big boys here...not many great quarterbacks that i can think of there. just my opinion.

I agree, but . . . if he wasn't going to play Hill, why didn't he just come out and say so? He caused a lot of negative PR to fall upon himself and LSU needlessly.

Well said. I like the idea of handling most situations in house, but in this case Hill should have been suspended publicly.

I dunno. Our best offensive weapon and their best defensive weapon both sitting...seems like a fair trade. Maybe they made a deal.

But for what? Saying Hill would be dressed? Or had he said Hill may play? If it's just the first statement, good ploy to keep opponent guessing, possibly.

LOL! Urban Meyer would've sat him for the runout onto the field. Then business as usual.
