In these days of cell phones and text messaging my guess is 2/3 of the team knew it within 10 minutes of ESPN's report. You can be text messaging while getting taped up or stretching or going to the john.... very easy even for an antiquated and technologically challenged buzzard as myself to figure that out.:geaux:
Desmond Howard was not Herbie's source. The source was propsective Miles assistant and current Ga Tech DC Jon Tenuta. Tenuta has now gone completely radio-silent, but prior to Saturday morning he believed he was speaking in confidence when he discussed the situation with Herbsteit. JMO, but i think Miles did the right thing for LSU's players and fans. I've stated all along that I believed pellini would go and Miles would remain. However, it should be noted that Wolverines.com is reporting that Miles confirmed that the recent 'extension" announced between LSU and Miles would not be signed until after the MNC game in January. Interesting .....
Not really interesting.....His current deal makes him one of the highest paid coaches in the country if he wins this game, so it seems only logical to wait on the really big bucks if LSU wins....that's what I figured would happen.
That could very well be so, but that merely points to where this false report might have come from. It does not vindicate the claim that it was a done deal. Again, every party involved has emphatically claimed on the record that there had been no contact, and no deal. You guys are getting sucked in by ESPN trying to cover Herbie's ass. I am sure LSU/Miles realized the media was going to seize on this to perpetuate more speculation and decided to get it done this Friday. I think everyone will be relieved when Miles' contract is no longer the hot topic in regards to LSU football.
