    CLM probably went on TV with his announcement prior to the SECCG because he was well aware of all the conflicting stories going around and he, along with the Skip and O'keef correctly assumed that the only way to put an end to speculation and cut the distraction (at least until the game was over) was for Les to make the public announcement.

    I find it interesting that this is still going on - so let me see if I can get all the facts presented on this board together ---

    1. Certain folks know for a fact (from a player or two and even from a player's mother who posts on another board )that Miles told the team before they left BR that he was gone;
    2. Others know for a fact thatfor the last two weeks or so Miles has responded to direct questions about his leaving from recruits that he was not leaving and would be at LSU;
    3. That unnamed agents or contacts had hammered out the details of the Miles/UM contract and it was all over but the signing;
    4. That Skip and Spurrier were seen walking around the LSU campus together;
    5. That Tubberville was holding off on signing his Auburn contract because he was waiting to see if LSU would offer enough;
    6. That Saban was showing interest;
    7. That CLM and Bo both knew they were leaving weeks ago and that is the reason the team has been in so many close games and lost two games (the injuries, etc. had nothing to do with a team with this much potential being in close games);
    8. That some former OSU player with a TV gig listened to a former UM player with a TV gig (who also happened to be on the UM search committee) and reported what he was told on a national TV show;
    9. Despite what the HC of LSU and the AD of UM have stated in public, there was a deal worked out between Miles and UM; and now
    10. UM is really in no hurry and since it wants the LSU coach so badly (despite the fact that everyone knows he really is not the great of a coach - I mean if he did not have Nick Saban's players he wouldn't have won a thing would he) that they are willing to wait until after the new year to get him on board and get a staff together and start recruiting - why they must think Les is Nick Saban or something.

    That about it?

    Oh, one final thing IMO - if Desmond Howard was the source of KH's scoop - (which I have no reason to believe or to doubt and really don't care) whether the facts were wrong or right, do you think the search committee will let him continue to participate??

    Go figure.

    Like I said in my previous post, "we'll see." While you choose to think that I don't know people who are within the ESPN family is your choice. But, what you fail to think about is who is in that family. It is your supposition that I didn't know know what was going on with this whole story line, right? Yet, when the story broke I came on this very forum and stated the information was coming from someone within the Ath. Dept. of one of the two schools.

    Dude, you may not have have people that you can call and find out information about what happens within different programs. But, it's not hard to establish.

    You know well I don't post inflammatory BS. It's not my thing, and you know it. If that was your impression Red, perhaps I didn't type it in as detail as I should. I put a thought out there as to why the announcement would have a thing to do with the team. It doesn't fit.

    The one thing I will agree with, WHOLEHEARTEDLY, is I don't know what the team was doing at 10AM in the morning Saturday. The one thing I will say without a doubt is how teams prepare for games. They don't don't do it watching ESPN.

    Let's address this. What was the team doing at 10AM before the SECCG?

    Now, I have to ask a question. What was the purpose of the presser? I do not know how your team handles pre-game activities. I do know how other teams do.

    That's cute. And convenient.
    I doesn't matter if you know someone at ESPN or not. It just so happens I have a cousin that works for ESPN. It's not the CIA(even though I have a relative and two good friends in that organization as well), so I don't regard that as some almighty source.
    The implication that some mysterious dealings actually took place is ridiculous to say because if ESPN could have nailed Miles - they would have. Why the hesitation? Are they protecting "deepthroat"? But we are supposed to believe that not only did it take place, but it is such a poorly guarded secret, that an Alabama booster is disclosing it on a LSU forum? That sounds even more ridiculous to say out loud then it does to read it.
    No it isn't, and as I do have such in the LSU program. However, I am not as blessed as you to have insiders in bama, Michigan, and LSU.

    I find it almost impossible to believe that ESPN has proof of what you say and hasn't roasted Miles on a spit. They don't like him that much. Why would they let him off the hook? He has destroyed their credibility on this story. You ever going to provide evidence? Even though your ESPN colleagues do not?

    Dude, if you want to take this to PM, that's OK. If you would like to tell me who your cousin is at ESPN I'll gladly confirm it in this very thread. If you don't like PM, send me an email. The story is there.

    EDIT: I have people calling my phone, geez. All I gave you was my last name

    If I may add, who is putting their real name out there and not hanging behind a screen name?
