There may be another chapter to this book.. Nationally the feeling is that there will be more to the story after the NC ball game & you know they (national press) will keep it alive till then... LM on the Mike & Mike show monday morning was kinda evasive with answers to direct questions... Such as will you be the next coach at Michigan.... Did not give yes or no answers.. Stay Tuned sports fans!!
From what I recall not only did Herbie announce Miles to Michigan but also that Miles would hire Jon Tenuta as the DC. Why hasn't ESPN interviewed Tenuta about this ? Trust me, if he would verify what they reported the interview would be aired every ten minutes.
I doubt it will live that long. The Board of Supervisors meets on the 6th and will sign off on his contract. I would be surprised if he did not sign before the NCG. There would not really be any reason to drag it out unless he really intends to continue considering leaving for Michigan. If that's the case, he would probably suffer a greater backlash than Saban did.
The quote below from Skip says it might be January. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/12075741.html?showAll=y
After talking to the players in the morning and telling him the report wasn't accurate, he then went on TV 100% for the players? In essence, you are saying that the morning meeting when he talked to the team about him staying meant what? Are you saying he had to make a TV appearance to make his word sound? I've seen may accuse me of spin, so I'll throw this one out for you to chew on. What the game day ritual for the LSU team when playing a game Saturday afternoon? Are they in a breakfast together with the team and then moving on to position meetings with their respective coaches like all teams to or are they watching GameDay on ESPN? I would say "I'm afraid you are looking at this in the wrong light." But, I won't say that. I know you are. Unless, you have a situation where the team is watching ESPN instead of running through pre-game rituals that every team in the NCAA follows. In a nutshell, you have a situation where LSU officials put pressure on Miles because of the ongoing negotiations with Michigan. It raised the intensity to the point where a press conference was called before the SECCG. Did it have a thing to do with the players? If so, that falls on the staff's shoulders. You DON'T have a team preparing for an SECCG watching ESPN in the AM.
I hate to say it but I don't think it is over yet. I think Miles still talks to UM and if UM wants too. I think Miles still wants to see what UM is going to do before he signs the LSU contract. Being evasive on Mike and Mike about the UM job is an indication that things are still fluid. It's not over. Les did what he had to do Saturday because the story was false, but that doesn't mean it is over. If UM is willing to let this recruiting class slide and can wait for the NC game, this story isn't over. As much as I like Miles, I think he is a man of his word and did what he did Saturday for the team and School. I don't think he has finalized his decision and I believe he entertains UM if they come asking. I really really wish it was over and wish he would just break off the UM story but he hasn't broken it off 100% yet. Not giving direct answers on Mike and Mike say a whole lot.
I would tend to agree, except that I remember Nick's people dragged out the process for months hammering out tiny details. I believe both parties are committed, but the agents and lawyers will make the actually signing process drag way long.
Amazing. Your attempts to tar our coach with bad judgment with the press is transparent. Please don't come here and claim inside knowledge with people at ESPN, and imply that our coach has been disingenuous just because you currently have a coach that was slammed last year for just that. You absolutely do not know the particulars of how this situation came to pass and to imply that you do is preposterous. Since it has been established from multiple sources that ESPN got it completely wrong, show me the proof that anything they said was correct. What a crock.
You can't possibly be this naive, Terry. It was a championship game with a lot of press on hand, all foaming at the mouth for a story. When a major network went on national TV with an announcement like that, it would take only minutes for it to reach the team and coaches. The on-site reporters were all over it of course. I guarrantee you that some LSU Athletic Department Sports Information people watch ESPN, as well. It's their job to interact with the media and they are very much on top of things. Your suggestion that the LSU team was watching TV instead of preparing for the game is based on total speculation as is your suggestion that LSU officials caused the hurried-up anouncement. Miles stated in no uncertain terms that the timing of the statement was due to media rumormongering that was distracting his team. Why do you suggest that he is lying? Pony up with some evidence or back off this inflammatory BS.
