Oregon Math? Most will have them with the loss of the LT, OC and the RG. LSU returns 4 of the 5 starters, Shaw started 1 game last year, Faulk started 2 games LY, T-Bob started 11 games LY and Williford started 4.
because they rotated six lineman as starters so that each of them started the majority of the season last year. three are gone (Holmes, Kaiser, Thran) and three return -- Asper (started 11 of 13 games), York (started 10 of 13 games), and Weems (started 7 of 13 games). Weems is the one some people aren't counting as a "starter" -- but he started in the majority of Oregon's games: 7 of 13 games (54%)... and he started in all of Oregon's most important games: he started against Auburn, Stanford, and USC. specifically: he started over York against Auburn, Washington, and Portland State, he started over Thran against Stanford, he started over Asper agaisnt USC and Washington State, he started over Kaiser against Tennessee.... that's how he got his 7 starts in 13 games (54%). he also played in 11 of 13 games (the only games he didn't play were against Arizona and Arizona State)
So we could count T-Bob (With as many/more starts than Weems, Asper and York) as a starter, so we have all 5 returning and only lost one starter?
:geaux: Brockers and Freak are definitely the two to watch at DT, along with Josh Downs. Someone I haven't seen mentioned here is Ego Ferguson. He's been working at DT through the spring is close to 300lbs. While it's said he has some work to do, if he continues to make progress through the fall he could be a definite contributor on the D-Line this season. Someone to keep an eye on anyway. :LSU231:
Such a shame that Davenport isn't even in the conversation. Is there any chance that he'll ever see the field?
we return 4 starters from the 2010 OL, but only plan on starting 3 of them in 2011 (Hurst, Lonergan, and the winner of the Dworaczyk/Hebert battle) the 4 starters we return from 2010 are: Lonergan (13 starts in 13 games), Dworaczyk (13 starts in 13 games), Hurst (10 starts in 13 games), and Hebert (7 starts in 13 games). we would have liked Blackwell to be a starter last year, but he wasn't because he missed most of the season due to injury (he only had 4 appearances and 2 starts last season -- he got hurt on the on the first play of the UNC game, sat on the bench the next 9 games, appeared against Ole Miss and Arkansas, and started against A&M) according to a recent interview with Coach Stud, this is who he plans on starting for 2011: RT -- Hurst (10 starts in 2010) RG -- battle between Blackwell (2 starts, 4 appearances in 2010) and Williford (4 starts, 13 appearances in 2010) C -- P.J. Lonergan (13 starts in 2010) LG -- battle between Dworaczyk (13 starts but missed Spring b/c injury) and Hebert (7 starts, 13 appearances, was starter in Spring) LT -- Faulk (2 starts in 2010) -- replaces Barksdale (13 starts in 2010)
i don't know more about Oregon than I do about LSU. as for how was i able to check on the situation regarding Oregon's o-line? first, I pulled up the CFN/Scout 2011 preview for Oregon (they have one for every team, and they do a great job). then i went to the part that talked about Oregon's o-line, and i read that then, i double-checked by pulling up the Rivals.com page for Oregon (they have one for every team, and it's pretty reliable info). there, i looked at their projected 2011 depth chart (every team Rivals.com page has this), and looked at who they had for their o-line then, i went to Oregon's official football website (every football team has a website for their team), and i looked at their roster and their stats (every football team has both for their team). including in the stats is a player participation table (# of start, # of appearances). you could also click on the bio of the player from the roster and it will have that player's stats there (usually including how many starts and appearances he's had)
I still think Chief will do what he has to do to have this team ready to play. His resume is a good one to read, amongst his peers, he is very well respected in the SEC and College. Remember, he was one of the first to bring the Zone Blitz into college football. Oh, remember what former LSU coach that developed the Zone Blitz package..........this was in the early 70's.
