Yet you begin your rebuttal by counting games and using stats eh?? Hmmm..... :hihi:

Stats are always sketchy- look at the TCU/Texas game last weekend.

As far as my post, the "Records" are relevant when it's the "Perception" I was addressing. Too many yahoo college football fans I know repeat things they hear others say- even with things they hear as kids, they get so ingrained with 'em, and not knowing much, outside of their favorite team (If they know much more about them than the QB, coach's name and season record) they pass them on.

"Perception" is "Reality" to most people.

28 Scheduled Away Games vs PAC-10 vs. 62 home ones.......The difference (34)is larger than the actual number of scheduled away games, so if that's "Barely" to you, it shows how hard it is to change people's minds; however, since you're twisting my post to fit your argument, I'll use your "Stats" to shoot it down with this question. If the SEC is 9-6 against the Pac since '00, where's the big gap we're always harping on?

oppps.........there's the dismissal bell, class is dismissed.

Hard to understand how the SEC is 9-6 against the PAC since 2000, when the PAC is 7-6 since 2002. I'm guessing I counted this year's Cal/Tn game and the 9-6 thingy didn't...

So let's say it's now 9-7... sounds fairly close to me.

I think... perhaps... there is greater respect for the PAC 10 from the Big Ten because we simply play them more often. They have trouble when they come to our backyard and we have trouble when we go out there. Plus, they get a home game basically when we play in the Rose Bowl.

I have no problem giving the PAC their respect... or any of the other BCS conferences for that matter. I would even say I'm not sure why it's such a big point of contention.... a lot of teams can play the game quite well.

That's what I was thinking.......stats are useless but let me quote some here; hate making excuses.......BUT, I'm making one here.....WTH?? :D

Puleez, the obvious disadvantage here was the QB situation as has benn often cited since then. Or was it the QB? That was the "Perception" at least but the score was 16-7 at half. Mustain didn't come in to replace Johnson late in the third after USC caught fire. Intercepting the ball after punting when they'd been held after receiving the ball to begin the second half, they rolled off td’s on 4 straight possessions.

As most college football fans not living in the South know the same about USC's team last year- breaking in a new QB for starters. Funny thing is, Booty threw for 406 yards in a loss to Oregon State, and 274 in their 13-9 loss to the Bruins.

Was Arkansas's secondary that bad, allowing 261 in the air? Hard to say, stats are so misleading  ......Booty only had 148 yards passing against lowly Az St. Stanford and Oregon- 203 and 213, respectively. I'm sure you see how a Pac10 fan could take the 148 Az St. allowed and have a field day here taking shots at our SEC defense-fair/valid or not-using ONE game........"Perceptions".

I said "from the 60's". Notice my records aren't from then?

Texas didn't play TCU last week.

I said barely "IN RECENT YEARS". A difference of 1 game out of 15 fits the description of barely quite well.

I haven't twisted anything you said. I'm bringing up recent history. If you want to dive all the way into the Stone Age, Princeton is the greatest team ever with their 24 MNC.

Good catch. It was in there, I just hit the wrong button. That one is on me.

I know, just had to mess wit ya.

The preception is that the PAC is weaker RIGHT NOW, not was weaker 40 years ago. Therefore I used current stats instead of old ones.

I did. Before you even asked it.

    Cincinnati 34 - Oregon State 3 FINAL

The AP had Oregon State at #31

USA Today had them at #34

Who said they overrank Pac-10 teams to make USC's schedule seem tougher? Oh yeah...I did! :hihi:

Judging from tonights game...Cinci taking OSU behind the woodshed...the Pac 10 isn't deep. OSU won 10 games last year...including beating USC. Tonight they lose 34-3 to Cincinatti...although, Cinci looks good.

Wasn't sure if Cinci was good or OSU just pathetic and if Boise St. beats Washington this Saturday, the Pac10 isn't NEARLY as strong as I thought. In other words, I was wrong.

Aslo, based on games to now, it's looking like USC (With ND and OSU supposing to be two of their "Tougher" games) will have two teams to beat in UCLA and Cal. and a much easier path to the NC game........easily.
Even giving them some leeway for them "Getting everyone's best game" and "In conference games being dogfights, etc" I'd trade schedules with them tonight.
