Reminded me of another good point. The stars are really forced ranking which is pretty stupid. There are only so many spots in the top 100 for each rating category so some kids might "have" to become a 4 star if the 5 star category is already filled. Seems to me that if a particular class has 40 kids with 5 star talent, then so be it. It's a forced Bell Curve and not necessarily an accurate description of human skills.
Right, but the point is that the stars are garnered based on how well they did in high school, not where they will be drafted in the NFL.
Sometimes the difference between a four and five star player is very minuscule. You are acting as if 4 doesn't immediately precede 5. They're neighbors for crying out loud.
Not sure where to post this... so here is as good as any... Thought some of you guys might like to know that Lance Tillison, who was playing high school football in Slidell when Katrina forced his family to move to the Tampa area (Armwood-Sefner High) for his senior year, is now listed as the starting strong safety for the Hawkeyes on the new spring depth chart... as a red-shirt freshman. He was injured part of his senior year and came out as a 2 star at Rivals.... there ya go!!!! We like 2 star safeties... that's what Bob Sanders was... Thanks Slidell... we'll take good care of him!!:wink:
Exactly. I read a post and consequent long thread last season from a guy who does the rankings in the Pacific Northwest and he basically said there was a player whom he felt was a 4 star but could only give him 3 because there were already enough 4 stars.
