How far do we need to go for Brady to keep his job?

Brady's record at LSU is 54-74. I know we've had our share of probation, but in 8 seasons, he couldn't put us anywhere respectable for a long period of time? How long have we even held a ranking?

And honestly, have we even had a b-ball program that anybody feared? Pete Maravich was, to me, the greatest player EVER, but since then, what have we accomplished? Just curious. Not trying to start any crap...

    cgisclair,
Notice I did say usually. Last year was an exception to an extent and they indeed had some good home wins. I'm talking about throughout Brady's stay here. People start to get excited if you start off the year with a bunch of wins. That's how it was in 2000. Last year, LSU won 3 games to start and then played a team at home with a little bit of a name (West Virginia) and got beat easily. Then, you have to start all over again. And it also matters what the team does in the game before they come home to play. In almost every situation before coming home last year, LSU was blasted (Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky...) Only at the end of the season did they win a couple of games before coming home and they finished the season out well from there with better crowds. People like to see something consistent or something that excites them before attending at this point.

Same thing this year. We win a couple and beat a good team on the road (WV). We come home and lose to Houston. We win a couple more and lose to Northern Iowa (who is actually a pretty good team). I'm not saying there were a lot of people at these games. But they were games where people would start to take notice after winning a few...and then it starts over again.

And I will say that at this point, the Tigers need to have impressive performances because people dislike Brady that much. He really has been an ass to the media, players, etc. Last year's NCAA game was one of the worst ways I've ever seen a coach act. Most people agreed. He was turning his head and mouthing curse words to himself. Then he wouldn't look or talk to the players or try coaching them. It was as bad as it gets and the performance was equal to his efforts.

And remember, losses due to inexperience are in the end his fault because he will barely ever have veteran teams. Most people still aren't looking at the total picture. I can think of at least four players that played last year and this year who are no longer with LSU likely because of Brady. Notice our teams don't age well or get deeper in depth. They don't get the chance to. I've never seen anything like it. We had more players when we were on probation. That's the biggest reason for his problems - his attitude. He's not a terrible coach, but he's definitely not a person who unites others.

Everything TigerWins said earlier was accurate.

And LSU does not have a NCAA Title, but we had one of the longest streaks for going to consecutive tournaments at one time. Visiting teams did not want to play at the PMAC and LSU beat many highly ranked teams. We had some great SEC Championship teams as well (including 2000). But yeah, we've basically just been a pretty good program, not dominate or anything.

I'm sure a lot of former SEC coaches (and other around the country for that matter) feared us when we had Shaq, Roberts, Hammick, Vernell Singleton, Chris Jackson, Ricky Blanton and Clarence Cesar!

No, we didn't win any final fours with that group, but at that time, we probably had the best team to NOT win (if that makes ANY sense what-so-ever)...
