Arkansas isn't going to beat us through the air...that's not their style. Not to mention, I don't think they have a QB capable (although Monk is certainly a quality receiver). I say we use Jessie Daniels and/or Steltz to spy McFadden all game. I think Chevis and Zenon are good enough to cover the Arkansas WR's 1-on-1 and have LaRon play cover 2 on the side that Monk is lined up on--he's a tall receiver and in "jump ball" situations, he's got a distinct advantage over Jackson (who I presume will be covering him most of the time). And in obvious passing downs, I'd let Highsmith spy McFadden... If this rivalry has taught us anything, it's that these two teams always seem to play one another tough. And in '02, Arkansas spoiled our bid to reach the SEC title game, so, at the very least, we should return the favor and if Arkansas has already cliniched the West by beating MSU the week before they play us, at least we can ruin their chances at a possible BCS title game.
Yeah they certainly have an offense that is very capable. The most important thing is to stop their run, because they killed auburn and they only threw the ball 10 times the whole game. They dont' have a very balanced pass attack and will rely a lot on Monk. I believe our balanced attack will move the ball down the field and keep their Offense off the field but most importantly result in points. It's just so hard to believe that Arkansas is the class of the west right now after the shellacking they took by USC. Not onyl do we need to pound arky to stay alive for a BCS bowl, but more importantly we need to outdo USC :hihi: so i say we win 51-14:lsup:
What I'm concerned about is here we are talking about Arkansas when we have Ole Piss coming to town Saturday night. I just hope the team is'nt looking ahead like we are.:nope:
I don't think they are. I mean, in the past few years, they've never given us a reason to think that they were. And as for the fans, it's ok for us to over-look a team--We don't suit up on Saturdays.
It looked like we could score 60 against Bama in the first few series when Russell was throwing downfield to the receivers. Then Fisher went to a horizontal game with the little dump off screens and Bama felt like they could stay in the game. Play vertical, we stay with Arkansas. Otherwise, I'm afraid it could be a long day.
our defense and yours is the class of the league. to my surprise we basically shout down the vols air attack. our dbacks are good and the line is pressuring the qb on basically every play. i expected the vols to pressure our d more than they did, but really they were never in the game. our offense won't be stopped. the question is, can we stop yours. contrary to some other opinions, i don't think you need to go vertical against us. rather, i'd use some dumps and screens for clock ticking drives. it has the ingredients of a good game.
A big factor in this game is our Dline & how Pelini utilizes them. I think he'll need to sub more for this game because Ark's OLine is very strong and it will be very physical in the trenches. The LB's & DB's have to be sharp and keep an eye out for trick plays. I said it before the Florida game and I'll say it now - we have to play smart on defense because Arkansas will try to get a few big plays for momentum. If we can stay solid up front on defense and contain the running game, I think we can control their passing game also (unless Bama showed some sort of weakness on our defense). On offense, if we can avoid turnovers and there is good playcalling we should be able to hang with Arkansas' even if our D can't stop them. Ark's db's are decent, but if our Oline can give JaMarcus a little time our WRs will get open. Our running game should be decent to above average given the improvement there, but I don't think it will be great & hope the coaches don't force it too much. And we never use spies - we definitely will not in this game either.
B leblach or whatever your name is....get a job in LA and leave AR we've had enough of ya'll after that damn wind thing you couldn't handle. Anyway here is how you stack up against the Hogs since you can't do your own research as that would involve thinking. LSU has such a tough Defense, I don't know how Arkansas can possibly even hope to be in this game. They have been so dominating their opponets that they are by far and away the best Defense in the SEC and maybe even the country. Of course in all of the Hog's games the Arkansas Defense has just been lucky.... or maybe not..... Let's do a little comparing: Vs. Alabama Against LSU, Bama had 369 total yards(advantage ARK) Against ARK, Bama had 361 total yards Against LSU, Bama had 291 passing yards(advantage ARK) Against ARK, Bama had 243 passing yards Against LSU, Bama had 78 rushing yards yards (advantage LSU) Against ARK, Bama had 118 rushing yards Final Score Ark 24 Bama 23, LSU 28 Bama 14 (both wins) Vs. Tennessee Against LSU, Tenn had 248 total yards (advantage LSU) Against Ark, Tenn had 186 passing yards Against LSU, Tenn had 369 total yards (advantage ARK) Against Ark, Tenn had 174 total yards Against LSU, Tenn had 62 rushing yards (advantage LSU) Against Ark, Tenn had 92 rushing yards Final Score Ark 31 Tenn 14, LSU 28 Tenn 24 (both Wins) Vs. Auburn Against LSU, Aub had 182 total yards (advantage LSU) Against Ark, Aub had 213 total yards Against LSU, Aub had 110 passing yards (advantage LSU) Against Ark, Aub had 153 total yards Against LSU, Aub had 72 rushing yards (advantage ARK) Against Ark, Aub had 60 rushing yards Final Score Ark 27 Aub 10, LSU 3 Aub 7 (advantage ARK) I don't know about you all but it looks pretty even to me when comparing common enemies. Arkansas finished these games 3-0, LSU 2-1. The best part is that we get to settle this on the field. I'll take my Hogs any day of the week over the pole cats.
