Arkansas is good but have benefitted from a rather favorable schedule and their previous toughest game in Auburn had florida on deck which certainly helped matters. Bama had em beaten and SC had their chances. The UT win was impressive but every team we bang up struggles the next week. While this team has gotten better each week, LSU is the better team and will win if they play well. Anyone who thought Bama wasnt coming to play the full 60 after losing to Moo U was delusional. LSUs defense certainly took the night off in the secondary after winning a big game in knoxville. First game all year they didnt bring it so thats to be expected occassionally. This game played out just about how I expected. I thought darby would be more effective than billy bob joebob but he made some good throws and deserves credit. Was shocked Darby hadnt scored all year. He was a heisman hopeful headed into the season. I was also pretty depressed seeing andre smith at left tackle and playing so well still as a true freshman. We coulda used him. He's gonna anchor that line for 2 more years then go to the raiders with jamarcus russell.
Arkansas secondary is a liability, as long as JaMarcus plays like he did last night, LSU should be in the game to the end. I foresee a shoot out game because our defense has obviously already peaked based on the last two performances. This game historically is a shootout and I think the Pelini coaching search distractions and injuries will affect the defense and I think the team that has the ball last will win the game. Let's hope Arkansas is looking past MOO U and MOO U helps us out.
ark's O is too one dimensional to have much success against lsu. (a healthy beckwith will be help a lot) ark's D is very agressive, but lsu is too good a picking up blitzes to not take advantage. creative playcalling by jimbo will help
The last two game the Hogs didn't look that good in the second half. Ut held them scoreless & the cocks come within a score of making a great come back. If the game is close at half we take 'em. Also one of my worse days I have had watching LSU football was the Ole Miss game after the great win over #1 Florida. Ole Miss came to Baton Rouge and kick our ass.
For LSU to defeat Arkansas on their home turf, the Tigers will have to play their best game. No turnovers, watch the penalties, continue to establish the ground game and the defense will have to play much better than they did against Bama.
I think the Tigers can stop a run oriented offense. How is Arkansas' passing? That's our weakness on D.
Make that three. I am debating whether I should spend the money on tickets for the game in Ark. It should be a GREAT game, but I honestly have a bad feeling about it. Two years ago we demolished a decent Ark team in War Memorial, so the road shouldn't be much of a factor over there (weak, weak, weak tailgaiting, etc.) But Ark is playing with confidence right now and after demolishing UT I think they might have some swagger to go with that confidence. Maybe they'll be over-confident, but LSU will have to bring its best game to have a chance, imo. Like I said though, it's going to be a GREAT game! :geauxtige
I'm looking forward to it--because it actually makes the Arkansas game exciting. I was expected this sort of a match-up in '03, but then they started laying eggs before they got to us, then we dismantled them. That being said, I'll be quite nervous before the game.
X2 everything but the Raiders nooo not the raiders lol One of the keys to beating the hogs will be coaching. We need to play some agressive ball. If our O-Line can have a good game, we can win it. We seem to go the stretch better than our opponents BUT we need to be ahead and score early, that way down the stretch we can put some distance on the boards. Running game will be key. We definately can out pass them. Their D will be hyped up to play at home agaisnt the Tigers, we need a couple quick scores early to demoralize them, then we need some serious O line domination to grind the game to them via KW and ALLEY B ball. What I mean by this is.. Miles doesn't need to come out and try to establish the running game on the first series. We need to work it down the field possibly let Bowe and Doucet get some decent chunks, score early, put them in a hole. THEN try to establish a ground game. We'll play right into them if we try to grind it out on the first series. Then if we can just remember no matter how many stunts Nutt runs, trick plays etc, they are all designed to get McFadden the ball first then Monk, we'll do fine. They need to stick a hat on McFadden and make him his shadow for 59. 50 minutes of the game. Certainly WE can discuss the game HERE but the Tigers need to take care of business with the Rebels. don't laugh there's been some spoilers this season and I can't think of a WORSE spoiler. takin care of buiness = priority #1.
