Down here in Lafourche Parish, it's pretty bad... Alot of people think that since Duffy Breaux (god rest his soul) was the last Sheriff to do things "dirty". Well I got news for you. Most of the task force here use to be drug dealers. Some people I personally know have complained about certain people on the bayou who are known crack dealers. These people are never arrested. Why? Because they are kicking back to the right people. My fiance uncle has basically ruined his life. They know who he was getting the crack from, they called, talked to cops at the Tarpon Rodeo, etc..etc Nothing has happened.
Sad thing is, I Went to high school with a couple of the senior people on the Task Force, I made some comments. I was basically told "dude you know how this stuff works!".
Louisiana has been getting screwed for years. I mean what 50% of the nations oil runs thru lafourche parish? Thru a company called LOOP. Yet our roads suck? We had to beg, borrow and bribe to get the money to build that 4 lane so that if a hurricane does come here that the nation isn't paying $10 gal at the pump? Our school systems suck etc..etc
Where has all the money went?
I could go on but im drinking and this crap pisses me off and it's part of the reason why I spend most of my time out of state...

Corruption is everywhere in Louisiana politics. The last 3 Sheriff's of St. Helena Parish have each been arrested for Federal offenses, Livingston Parish councilmen sold their votes on the landfill fiasco, so forth and so on......it's for real

The FBI caught Cleo Fields on video accepting a $20,000 bribe from Edwin Edwards, but his constituency re-elected him!

We'll have one less crook in public office come January. Bob Odom has withdrawn from the race since he knows he can't win the runoff against Mike Strain.

Odom his starting a consultant company. Let's see how many state contracts he ends up with.

One down, many more to go...

Something smells about Odom picking this time to decide to go into consulting. I suspect somebody had the dirt on Odom at last and threatened to go pubic with it.

you could have left it at that. oklahoma is bad.

several years ago, a lot of our country commissioners were busted for bribery, corruption, etc and jailed in a crack down. i want to say the number was like 50 something. not an exageration. more than discraceful.

our last insurance commissioner is in jail now for bribery and corruption. a long time state sen is likely on his way. has been busted for funneling illegal contributions i don't know how many times.

jc watts was caught on tape taking a bribe, but the federal d.a. that got the case was a pal and sat on the indictment until enough time had lapsed that charges had to be dropped. the fbi and justice dept was so pissed that they pulled the case from her office even though it was too late to do anything about it.

my country commissioner is under indictment now and will probably be facing trial in state charges of bribery and money laundering.

when i was in 4th grad, our gov was impeached, indicted for corruption, and spent a bit of time in the federal pen.

all of that is just what pops into my mind right now.

as far as i am concerned, louisiana is no worse than oklahoma.

Odom has never been in a runoff in 28 years. He either won the primary or was unopposed. I think he saw the handwriting on the wall after getting only 41% to Strain's 40% in the primary.

Plus, I'm sure he wasn't happy Jindal won. If Jindal gets his way, Odom would have to disclose all sorts of stuff he probably doesn't want us to know about.
